Lino Gastaldello, the man who saved the historic Willier brand is dead. Struck by a car when he was out riding his bike at age 71 :(

RIP. Thoughts to his family. I always like the look of their bikes.

Sad news. My thoughts go out to family and friends. I ride a Willier, and while it's not one of the top models it's still a great bike.

RIP

First stage of the 2011 Tour will finish on a small mountain (or perhaps more appropriately hill) and the second will be a 23 k TTT.

More importantly the first stage will go over Passage du Gois which means that the Tour could be over before it starts for some riders. I still remember when they went passed there in the 99 Tour. I can't wait to see what will happen there next year.

From what I've heard, the stage "begins" at Passage du Gois, but it is not officially started before they are over it. Therefore, there shouldn't be any accidents as they will just ride slowly over it before the stage actually starts.

1. Is he dodging Contador?
2. If so, why?
3. How does this make you feel?

1. In principle yes.

2. I wonder. What's the difference from last year besides being on opposite teams?
Contador reached out his hand to Armstrong, and said it would be good for team spirit if they raced together before the tour. Armstrong accepted.
Did they in fact get along very well back then or was it just pretending?

3. Well this is preparation so I guess I don't make a big deal out of it. I think Armstrong is aiming to be competitive in ToC, that's his first real goal of the season. of course the tour will be his biggest goal.
Everything between is just preparation, LBL might be the exception.

Well, the article says they start on the island so it depends how far they ride on the island before going over the passage. At any rate it's a spectacular piece of road to ride on.

You Americans should be grateful for one thing, even if you don't like the guy, is that he will get you live coverage of the Classics. We got live coverage of Roubaix as soon as O'Grady won it.

I know I am grateful. Though I wonder if he is risking a potential injury with the spring classics. Also, doesn't really help with building form for stage racing (I don't count any real stage races in his line up Murcia (is 5 individual races) and Criterium Internationale is 3 days). That can't really help.

And Martijn (rhymes with "mine")
Well, at least it's not as annoying as "Gaysink".

That's absolutely nothing, trust me.

Shall I start with the *** portuguese eurosport commentator? Cause we can be here the entire week just focusing on him.

Short example:
"Jenny Eye-zienga" (That's Jenning Huizenga)

That's a mild one. It gets far worse.
