Schumacher was the only rider archiving proper results at Christina Watches. He has a great history with the Giro as it favors him well. And he was Top 5 at San Luis in 2012.

When was the last year we saw anything notable of Szmyd? Well, right ... ;)

2012 ? It was a long time ago. And Schumacher was pure leader in Christina Watches. On the other hand, Szmyd was pure domestique in Movistar.

And btw, Schumacher is not type of rider for 3 weeks GT in gc context.

Who talked about him going for gc? He will go stage hunting like he did during Gerolsteiner campaign. Probably be able to win a stage. Who knows.

Szmyd will try to field himself in the top 10.

So CCC has a man for a possibly top 10 and more than enough decent riders for escapes and stage hunting.

Don't get where the suprises come from.

CCC can make a decent Giro team so I can live with this though Columbia would have been better. But they can ride Vuelta instead so that is fine.

But how on earth can they give a MSR invite to Novo Nordisk instead of Southeast (Finetto, Gavazzi, Ponzi, Petacchi, Mareczko, Wackerman, Favilli, Belletti) is beyong me when it can not be ethical since they do get the Giro invite.

Novo get's some invites here and there mainly PR reasoned.

With Colombia actually I don't see why they deserve any grand tour wildcard once again. They suck big time, their good riders are mostly gone.

The Vuelta has a strong relationship to the Netherlands. It's coveraged on NOS and basically is rated higher there than the Giro. Zoetemelk and Janssen won it. Rabobank/Belkin/Jumbo always sends a big leader there (Whether it's Rasmussen, Menchov, Freiere, Gesink, Mollema). Vacansoleil got invited in 2009. Breukink may have some links left from his ONCE time. Hoogerland was 12th in 2009. So don't be furious if in the end even Rompoot gets favored.

To be honest, this year they have more quality, experienced riders then last year. With Pedraza, Sarmiento, Castiblanco and especially Cano. The last one would have been the surprise of the Giro (stage win, mountain jersey or top-10 GC) if they had been invited.

None of them would have done anything.

Maybe we should start a poll, is Sarmento the worst Girobio winner ever?

Inviting Colombia to every other race but not to the Giro seems a little bit strange, what are they supposed to do in a race like Milano-Sanremo?
But it's nice to have Rebellin at the Giro di Lombardia and maybe even at T-A and M-S.
