Brabantse Pijl used to be a better race in the days of Van Hooydonck, Museeuw, Boogerd, Freire etc. It has a weaker field than it used to, because it isn't part of the World Tour, so big teams stay away.

This means there will now be three sprint classics on Wednesday in the Flemish spring: De Panne, Limburg and Scheldeprijs.

There was another one?
How was that clearly? Wouldn't it make more sense to think of the more recent one first?
If someone talked about Van der Poel, you wouldn't think they were talking about Adrie...

The fact that he was listed first in a sentence about the good old days should probably have given you a clue of where we were timewise, or at the very least about where we weren't. Since NVH never actually was a key player in the race, it would also have been quite odd to highlight him.

That "another one" is significantly more successful than Nathan so perhaps Nathan should be the other one 😅.

And if they mention Van der Poel in the same sentence as, say, Kelly one should know they don't talk about the more recent one.

Ah, that did not occur to me. My bad.

Terrible decision. But at least they can perhaps come to their senses and reverse course later.

They say it's because they think too few top riders do the race because of Itzulia's close proximity to BP and that it works with E3 to be on the Friday before GW.

But yeah, I don't think this will have the effect they're dreaming of.

Again, that's what confused me:
The seemingly mention of a much more recent guy among a bunch of oldtimers...

Especially since "Uncle" Van Hooydonck does not exactly get brought up frequently...

But you were nevertheless wrong to believe it was referring to Nathan, can we just leave it at that? Edwig is much more accomplished, you're only putting your ignorance of the history of the sport on display here.
