Stage 6: Pizzo Calabro - Terme Luigiane
Stage 7: Castrovillari - Alberobello

Pizzo Calabro is just their guess though. Besides that, it"s not like they give us any new info...
Huh, not sure if I'd like Pizzo, the climbs directly around it are on the whole quite shallow unless the Giro wants to go up a really narrow street.
That would just be the start of the stage ending in Terme Luigiane... so the climbs around it would not matter one bit.
edit: Leaked planimetry for stage 5 (Pedara - Messina). It will be mostly flat. and around 150-160 km long

Stage 2 is likely to a veer inland since the Orientale sarda road has suffered some recent landslides

Interesting. I'm not sure they will touch stage 2 route before the presentation though. We'll have to wait for April to see the definitive route.

A local article hints that the Bagno di Romagna stage should use the same roads as the Granfondo del Capitano, which uses Passo dei Mandrioli, Passo della Calla and Passo del Carnaio (not necessarily the same order).

How would that look profile-wise?

this is the Granfondo

All those climbs are longish but not so steep. I think doing the loop on the opposite way would be much better, but even the original route is good as a medium mountain stage.

I 100% agree with this. If they don't want to use many historical climbs they should at least surprise us with completely crazy stages and completely crazy climbs. You know, something we would remember for years. But we don't have any sterato climbs, there won't be a comeback of old giro monsters like Fauniera, Sampeyre, or Kronplatz and the new climbs also aren't that special (Piancavallo is really just a very average HC climb) instead of Punta Velone, Crostis or maybe even the 3rd Zoncolan side. The climbs of the Monte Grappa are very nice but I think this is basically the only special feature like that.

A Fedaia-Pordoi stage (like earlier rumoured) would go a long to achiving this. Etna, Blockhaus and Stelvio is decent enough, but the last 3 stages are really disappointing, unless they do something with the Grappa stage which I hadn't thought of. A 200 km+ mountain stage with 5-6-7 passes and Fedaia-Pordoi in the end would be a proper last mountain stage!

You really want something like that, don't you? I can dig that.

Yep, agreed!

But I would also be satisfied with for example San Pellegrino-Duran-Staulanza-Santa Lucia-Fedaia-Pordoi or something similar (depends on where they start).

Too much flat after Pellegrino and Zomegnan doesn't like flat. But you can go south and incorporate Rolle & Valles before Cereda.

Like a criterium sprint?.....
True words!

The final itt's at the Giro used to be kinda exciting in especially in 2009 & 2012 of course and somehow even a bit in 2008. At least it was better than the disastrous outcome of the final sprint stage in the last two years. Nothing wrong with a little change back here imho.

Usually Stage 20 in GT's have mountaintop finishes which is the last chance to make time on GC, and stage 21 is the Ceremonial stage which seems to work well - At least you got some excitement in the final sprint in stage 21 - You have a situation where a good TTer ( relative to his compatriots ) is leading after stage 20, then a stage 21 ITT will be dead-set boring in every possible way.

In Italian TV they sad the last stage is probably an ITT with finish in Milano.

Disastrous if true - Weekends in GT's should be reserved for exciting stages.

Disastrous to you if true. I think the majority, lets say 90%, would prefer watching a ITT compared to sprint even if it was only for minor placing (unless its a Vuelta 2014 debacle, but it won't be). And if its close and the lead actually can change, you might be the only one on the forum.

We get it. You dislike, nay, hate time trials.

Final TT on could create action on the final mountain stages as well, whereas otherwise it might have already been decided.
Yeah, if it's at least around 20km a 2nd ITT on the final stage of the Giro is a great thing.

I think at this stage the stars expressing likelihood don't make much sense anymore. Everything gets 4 stars besides Sardinia. So now the stars express the predicted... stars... assigned by RCS.
