To give him the benefit of the doubt, he must have missed the 'in his prime' part of the original quote.

Nothing is gonna happen on the etna though. Contador in his prime could do it yea, but no one will go to the giro being that good.

If only Rujano could make a final comeback.........

Where will they climb Blockhaus from?
that's the million dollar question.
Today a local newspaper claimed the stage will be Termoli - Passo Lanciano. Another local website instead claimed Vasto - Blockhaus (specifying it'll be the Roccamorice side). All in all, I think they don't know it yet. Even a finish at the Passo Lanciano wouldn't necessarily rule out the Roccamorice side.

Not in a headwind, no. But under normal circumstances? Some guys will lose time. Basically little harder Terminillo, no?

First hard stage in a gt, pretty sure nothing will happen

With an upcoming itt nearly all favorites bar Nibali & Kruijswijk should have a good reason to at least attack in the final kilometers of the Etna!

Too flat really. Should be a select group of 4 or 5 sprinting for the win. A few half attacks I reckon, gaps not enormous, unless if the attacks start a at the bottom. Most will wait for Blockhaus which is genuinely really hard. The last week is really mediocre, I'm hoping that the reports are wrong and the previous last week is included. The first week does look much improved though.

Initial rumours had San Candido - Falzarego (?) - Fedaia - Pordoi MTF stage, ca. 110km of mountainous, beautiful and challenging terrain. Now, it's unlikely, though.

Thanks. The original one was a pretty good one indeed.
Ortisei is very disppointing for a 100th Giro

there are finally infos about the ITT. Apparently it'll be 40ish km long. :(
Also, it seems that stage 11 will not start in Gualdo Tadino, nor in the Umbria region at all.

The Terme Luigiane stage has the potential to be really good, Calabria is a great region to design hilly/medium mountain stages.
Will they use the terrain properly? Well, that's another story...

That's what they said about stage 4 in 2015 :)

Well in fact they weren't even calling it a "hard" stage :D

This is the ITT, based on the rumours. The actual length should vary based on the exact road they pick at the beginning (it will be flat nevertheless). From the first intermediate on, it should be correct.

Fedaia was last featured in 2011.It should feature again!(as Giau-Fedaia-Pordoi combo with a MTF in Pordoi)
If I ruled the UCI, I would make it mandatory for a race with TV coverage to use the Fedaia (Fedaia!!!) in every year.

If that meant insisting on TV coverage for the revived Girobio, live or extended coverage of the Giro Rosa, Trentino/Euregio (I know the climb itself is in Veneto but that doesn't have a race of its own, and Trentino's been outside its borders before, e.g. Punta Veleno), or whatever (however, preferably not a revival of the Giro di Padania), so be it. Needs must.

FEDAIA!!!

The ITT is too short. Hilliness is OK, but an extra 20km of flat at the start wouldn't have gone amiss.

Yes, but if we get an at least 20km long ITT on the last day it'sok, if it's the only ITT (or if the final TT is really short like the one that we got in the 2014 Vuelta) than I have to agree with you.

It would be preferable to have 20 kms more in any instance, but 60 kilometres of relatively flat ITT is very decent nonetheless (assuming the last one will be around 20 km). Apart from the length, I like that ITT. Much better than last year's, fx.
