Yup. Sooner or later TGH is going to have to take it up. Hindley can sit on Tao's wheel as long as he likes.

Tao needs to pick up the pace, but he doesn't necessarily need to dispose of Hindley today with the TT to come. I'm not sure he can anyway.

I still dont understand why they havent ridden Stelvio since 2005 (They obviously have, but not from side side). Its just a whole different beast to the weak sauce from the other side
Tbh theres a big 2020 factor to this edition

Have what in the bag?

They are riding for GC, not just the stage win, so putting time into Kelderman is important!
Working out how to deal with Hindley is also important. As it stands, Hindley is almost certainly going to jump Tao for the stage win, so will be adding seconds to his advantage.

Because Bormio did the paying in 2012, and they wanted it as an MTF rather than a finish at, say, Bormio 2000 or Valdidentro which could have been way better; Martello paid in 2013 and then had to be cancelled so they re-ran the stage in 2014.

I'd like to say something but I'm still at a loss for words after Dennis destroyed everyone up the Stelvio.

If I remember correctly the last kilometer before finish, just past the Torri di Fraele is on hardpack fine gravel, at least it was the last year when I rode it... Fingers crossed for no flats for the leaders on this stretch...

No he doesn't need a minute, it's a last stage, pan flat 15km TT. Fatigue matters more than TT ability. Dumoulin back in 2017 took 1.10 off Quintana, but that was twice the length. Hindley won't lose more than 40s
I don't know, he might not. But then we have seen crazier things final TTs. And Tao > Hindley in TTs.

But even if its only 30s he will lose, he needs to make them up first. And if we assume Keldermann and Tao are equal in the TT, Hindley is only the better strategy than Keldermann if he can do 3:11 better than him in the stages still to come before the TT.

And basically I doubt that. Again, nothing personal at all.

Surely kelderman should of stopped on the top gonna take like 5/10 seconds
Of course. As soon as you're having a problem either put it on backwards to protect your chest or just accept putting your foot down for a few seconds at the top. Was it Bobby Julich that crashed putting on his jacket on the Galibier?

Wilco didn't look hugely happy with the car?

Dennis needs to come up big for Tao now. They need at least 1.30 back today to even dream.

*** that hindley is not waiting, its fine for kelderman to lose 2 minutes here, but now alone he might lose more than 3.....
