I guess people have forgotten the 2009 and 2012 Tours, as well as the 2012 Giro.
2009 Tour had Grand Bornand which automatically makes it better than these 15 stages. 2012 Giro at least occasionally featured GC riders doing something (even if something was usually constrained to the final 5 minutes), it's not an accident that that year's Laceno stage was less bad than this year's. 2012 Tour had more action than either that Giro or this one, but the complete and utter annihilation by Sky that year remains unmatched, and so it's the question whether that makes it worse than the overall package served up so far this Giro.

I think you guys make out that the 2011 Tour was worse than it was, the first 2 weeks were bad but since Remco abandoned this Giro has felt so flat. Plus the farce of Crans Montana makes this far worse than the 2011 Tour IMO

The 2011 TDF was bad because Andy Schleck was more worried about holding hands with Contador instead of burying him

Le Grand Bornand wasn't that amazing. The winner was already decided, it was one attack for the Schlecks to pop off, after that it was just Schlecks taking turns and Contador dropping his own teammate for Contador reasons.

Salvodelli would get dropped like a brick on the climbs by the modern peloton though.
I dunno. If you expose him to modern training methods and all, he'd hang in. Guys like Simoni and Basso were excellent climbers and he hung with them. No reason he couldn't hang with Thomas and Almeida

True, but it was still a legitimately good (but not great) mountain stage. We haven't even had a mediocre mountain stage so far in terms of GC action, let alone a good one.

Let's say I'm sceptical that absolutely nothing will happen in the remaining 3 mountain stages + ITT.

Oh no, GC riders aren't making meme attacks when the 2 top teams don't wanna race for no reason

Why do you say meme attacks? They could try to attack. Maybe Roglic is actually hurt. Maybe Thomas will have problems following repeated punchy attacks. Maybe Almeida will drop and not come back. Etc. We don't know. Maybe they will know on the third to last stage and realize they should have done something earlier, but even if something in the back of their heads tells them they should have tried something earlier they will tell themselves and us they couldn't have done anything differently.
Risking something is risky. But not risking anything is also risky.

The route is really bad, anyone resembling a GC rider is extremely passive, and bad luck has pushed all the negatives in addition. It's only funny how bad this race is from a GC point of view.

Frigo coming back but he should still get dropped in the last climb unfortunately for the Italians.

2012 Tour at least had Froome vs. Wiggins and their SO's fighting about it on Twitter.

Here if we're lucky we may have a Vine vs. Almeida but it's less probable and I don't think Almeida's girlfriend has the fighting spirit for a good match-up (but as see with Healy, surprises can always happen).
