Disaster for Vino, Evans too. Any further effort at the Giro is a waste. Time to pack it in and focus on the Tour.

If I were Sastre, I would change clothes, put on loafers and wait for the MR group at the finish line zipping on a latte machiatto. Hello Vino, how was the weather out there? still raining?

For those who have just joined us,

Evans and Vino have both lost a couple of teammates today too

Two each, actually. And Evans lost the only one who could slightly climb.

But Kiserlovski will have about the same time as Arroyo, and Kiserlovski definitely has the better team. And Liquigas will also have the option of attacking the jersey with Agnoli for example.

But Arroyo is a proven top-10 GT guy. No way to know what to expect in week 3 from Kiserlovski and Agnoli.

Agreed. Out of the men within touching distance of the pink, he is my favorite. And I don't think Caisse has a half bad team...

Or turn around, go to about 1k out, then sit at the side of the road with a cup of tea in hand cheering them on like a couple of gents at the cricket. :D

We haven't hit any of the proper mountains yet. Look up Tour de France 1990 for a comparison, this race will be won by one of the big favourites still* - they just will have to work a lot harder for it and it will be a lot more interesting. For guys like Vino and Basso that won't be leaders at the Tour, they have to go full gun. Nibali maybe won't bother. Evans will look at his team and realise this may be as close as he's going to get this year so it's worth burying himself.

* or David Arroyo :D
