Surely Astana/Liquigas/BMC will not let Wiggins and Sastre put themselves back into overall GC contention this easily.

Names! Graham Watson on twitter has names!

Sky has Wiggins, Cervelo has Sastre, Garmin has Millar & Martin; Saxo Bank has Porte, possible race-leader tonight... Vinokourov in trouble?

Go Carlos!

if they let sastre ride himself back into contention then they deserve to lose the giro.

Yes! Nothing would be better than to get Sastre back in contention for the GC.

looks like we all fell for a well crafted joke by gazzetta and dekker....

Pretty unlikely Gazzetta would put a joke situation on their ticker, for me.

Don't know about Erik Dekker.

But this stage is definitely not easy to control, especially with a huge group at the front with some very strong riders.

Wiggins and Millar and Sastre, oh my!

If Porte gets the Maglia Rosa tonight we may have to add a few more carriages to his hype train, it is going to get BUSY.

:D Choo choo! Hype train from Australia now leaving Cuddles Station and approaching Porte Parkway, due for arrival in approximately 4.5 hours.

the sports betting odds indicate that at least evans and cunego have the same or better chances of winning today than they were given before the start of today's stage.

So that means that they would have to be in the front group and i think it's unlikely that vino would let them get away 13 minutes

Where is Sastre?

Sastre is on the way to winning the Giro d'Italia, that's where he is.

This is incredible, if this breakaway can really work together for the whole race they could steal the Giro from right under Vino and Cadel's noses.

What the hell is going on here, this can't be right? This has got to be a joke. How could this happen. My god, Pozzovivo will still win this giro, this is crazy

I'm going crazy here, my god why don't we have all day long tv coverage of the giro like with the tour

Well, Pozzovivo was almost 45 minutes behind at the start of todays stage, so I don't think so.

I don't get how quite that many people could get away wihout Vino being able to mark them. Maybe he put some of his guys in the break to keep it under control, and it just got too big.

I thought this Giro couldn't possibly get any more insane.

I was wrong.

But it's too early to judge.

Indeed, some weird **** going on here. Perhaps Astana is simply refusing to do the chasing, BMC certainly does not have enough power to chase, and Liquigas alone can't close a gap to 56 riders...

Pozzo is half an hour down on Wiggo and Sastre and nearly 45 minutes down on Vino. He has no chance, sorry.

Too early to make such conclusions. Liquigas and Astana will surely reduce the gap. It is still more than 150 km to go.

And I am not even sure that Sastre, given his current form and bad luck (crashes, etc.), can make it all the way to finish with the breakaway.

Is it just me, or is this the most insane Grand Tour in the last 15 years at least? (I've only seen them that far back, so can't really comment on anything before that)

Are bookies that quick? I suppose they have to be.

Even Liquigas, BMC and Astana working together will struggle to haul back 56 riders if they are motivated and working together. This could turn the entire race on its head.

Still, longest stage of the tour, a lot yet to happen. What a crazy race, though.

If this goes all the way, and be it even by no more then 1 minute, it would still be a most memorable day. Goddamnit I already hate having to watch the dull Tour stages

I've just backed Porte to win the Giro @ 160. Either some misinformation has cost me $15 or someone was slow to act :D

Damn I got to get my *** to BetFair and drop some money on Sastre.
