Haha, I read about Rabo yesterday and it was like - "No way they're in the Giro!!" And then I checked it and was like "WTF?!" So either am I not paying enough attention to the Giro (trying to watch some everyday) or thy have been VERY anonymous, take your pick!
Both you and Steampunk have paid **** poor attention then

Stamsnijder and Flens have been in many breakaways, Stamsnijder is leading the intermediate sprint classification and the Trofeo Fuga (most km in attack) classification. Flens is in the top 3 of that one.
They are 2nd in the Teams GC classification (!!!!) and Mollema is 18th in GC without being in the L'Aquila break

I was hoping to see Simoni in the inevitable break. I have the feeling that Simoni will be invisible for the entire Giro. :(

Hi all. I'm new to the forum. Don't worry I'm not an Armstrong fan boy. Refer to my use of punctuation as evidence..[/QUOTE

Welcome! :)

How much time does everyone think Arroyo will lose? If any?

I'm thinking 1 1/2 minutes. He seems like the sensible sort who won't panic and will be happy to ride at his own pace if he has to.

I'd say that describes Arroyo to a tee. But I do think he'll lose a little bit more than that.

I'm pretty sure he's not going to achieve anything

Interesting that Evan's wife is sitting at the top of the Zoncolon. Last time she sat at the top of a climb to cheer him on was at the world championships.

Probably. I'd forgotten about Freire. Too: so many breakaways have succeeded, just not those with Rabo riders. And my comment had to do with how relatively well they have been doing. But quietly. So much of the English media coverage has been about Team Sky and Liquigas have really impressed. Not surprisingly, I'm seeing an awful lot more of Caisse today. And I guess a lot of the drama has involved the GC and GC riders: lots of Vino, little Astana; lots of Evans, little BMC, etc.

2003, 2007?

What stopped it being included before?

probably the host town not having the money to afford a finish, the road not being too great (it was resurfaced recently), and its only quite recently that compact gears have come into play, doing the Zoncolan on a 39x25 would be insane.

I am betting that Evans puts the hurt on people today.

Actually, if you had targetted this stage and saved something for it, the amount of time you could take would be huge:the difficulty, the fact that it's the twelfth straight day of active racing (pretty much).

The breakaway with Stamsnijder succeeded, that was just days ago, the breakaway with L'Aquila had Ardila and Kruijswijck in it, succeeded as well
And Mollema even attacked in the final KM's of the Terminillio stage. Can't say you payed much attention

The Giro organizers were afraid that Armstrong would organize a protest about the bianche strade stage and the Holland stages and the rain stages and the gravel climbs...well, pretty much the whole Giro

I think I can get my chain back on a LOT faster than what that looked like. Does video add 10 seconds the same way it adds 10 pounds?

Your really just making his point as there is really nothing memorable in your citations.

Probably a couple of hours. Maybe not quite that much.
