GEOX is starting to play out their cards wisely- looks very interesting that Duarte is profiting from situations like today, while Menchov & Sastre are just hanging on with the GC riders.......
The way I see it, Menchov has two cards to play, Sastre and Duarte. They have a good team.:)

Contador's team-mates are taking it easy except for Porte.

Rujano will go for the KOM jersey now whilst Sella goes for stage wins and Serpa goes for GC.

Knowing Androni they will want every jersey under the sun.

Honestly, no offense, but **** them. The Strade Bianchi stage has now paid off phenomenally the second year in a row. I don't don't give a **** what any pro rider thinks about it, go to TOC if that bothers you.

you need to take the chill pill

i agree with you and thought this stage was epic i was just quoting machado's opinion.

besides compared to the mountains to come the time lost on this stage means little. a bad day in the mountains can cost a rider 10 minutes on a stage like zoncolan

Also there's a difference between "personally I'm not a fan, I'll probably lose time" and "this should never be part of a GT". Sprinters don't like mountain stages all that much either.

Peter Kennaugh 24th, 19 seconds down on Weening. I'm cautiously impressed, I wasn't expecting much from him. I look forward to seeing how he goes on the first MTF in two days.

Have to say I couldn't even enjoy the race after Slagter's fall, got some horrible flashbacks there.

One major bummer today: Tom-Jelte Slagter. He did amazingly well for a neo pro, until... I'm still not quite sure what happened, but there he was, on the ground. Hope he's okay.

Machado also three minutes down.

Not good if his ambition was to break into the Top-5

like i said before he was expecting this (said in his race diary today) but said he was going to try to make up some time attacking in the mountain stages. now knowing machado i think we are in for some fun and silly suicidal attacks xD

From the re-play it looked like he clipped the fan in the orange t-shirt on the right of the road. Not sure whose fault it was, probably the fan's to be honest.

Yeah, he was in the front group. Constantly sitting in the back, so probably already tired.
Then make 1 mistake in the downhill...and bam.. Luckily he is ok now. Well definately with some injuries (don't know what), but alive and well

That was not a fan, but someone with a water bottle.

Chris Barton looks to be the first BMC out.

Does anyone know how many started the day? They are classified up to 194 now, and if you're behind McEwen and Brownie you're in big trouble.

Deignan 178th, poor greatking  Johnny T 182nd.

Ha!

That'd be a first for Bruyneel.
