I don't think we're quite done laughing at your about-face on Weening yet.
who cares, everyone knows i'm hypocritical about most things anyway.

then again, who isn't on here? the place is full of them (actually it's human nature)

di luca isn't the only one who doesn't like the dirt. on his diary today machado said he wasn't a big fan of the strade bianche idea and was honestly expecting to lose some time today as he is a bad descender and a bad bike handler. he said he wouldn't be surprised if he lost 2 minutes. . . i think he lost a bit more then that lul <_<

p.s. he also said he was going to try to make up for the lost time in the last week

still pretty sh1tty performance by machado i must say

The sterrato is nice to spice things up but at the end of the day it's not that important, as long as it doesn't rain. Downhill it makes a big difference, of course, but otherwise I don't see why any of the strongest guys would have trouble with it (barring punctures and the like).

Up until this year I had forgotten Weening was a good rider.

A few more names:

Pozzovivo 25"
Sastre/Seeldraeyers/Tschopp 28"
Gadret 58"
Machado 3'03" (bye bye)
Visconti 5'16" (doesn't seem to have the form)
Popo 5'31" (bye bye)

Porte still hasn't come in.

Didn't Popo puncture?

The fact that Weening won indcates that it wasn't a stage for the pure climbers. Anyway, as I understand it, Gatto's an allrounder with a finish, similar to Visconti. It's not that surprising.

Apparently I completly missed out on his transformation. But it's interesting to see.

Not that I know him that well, it's just what I thought.

Woah woah woah, ease up with the broad strokes there. Speak for yourself.

Ugh. Why did Rujano have to fail this hard.

Because, with the exception of three weeks in 2005, he always fails in European races.

And those 3 weeks in 2005 were probably more Clinic related than anything to do with his abilities.

Honestly, no offense, but **** them. The Strade Bianchi stage has now paid off phenomenally the second year in a row. I don't don't give a **** what any pro rider thinks about it, go to TOC if that bothers you.

Oh there is really countless examples, want me to dig some up for you maybe? ;)

Anyway, this is not about me. I want to cheer about Weening, there is not much to cheer about in GT's concerning dutch riders so

It's a cycling forum. "I'm not worse than everyone else" is an acceptable excuse. ;)

Results says that was Isasi. Anton was in the front group.

Ah ok thanks. Strange, I really thought it was Anton and quite surprised to see Isasi being so good. I thought it was Nieve in the front group.

He showed some signs of it last year, he had a pretty decent Giro then as well (at least the first half) and some other flashes of "greatness".

For the "he should have shown some more signs of mourning" crowd: in the post race interview, Weening dedicated the win to Wouter Weylandt.

like top 10 in Romandie recently.

But yeah, he doesn't have the talent of a top rider, he has got to do it in stages like this

GEOX is starting to play out their cards wisely- looks very interesting that Duarte is profiting from situations like today, while Menchov & Sastre are just hanging on with the GC riders.......this kid can climb up to the top 3 without anyone paying attention.....
