I wonder if some teams didn't get the rules as well and if Movistar is now surprised to not lead after today.

In any case quite embarrassing that Quick Step a team which should be made for races like this isn't in the top 8. And does anyone know if the points of Caleb Ewan were already excluded of the result.

So it will be Duomolin vs Team Sky tomorrow
Maybe Dowsett and Oliveria can rally Movistar but they will be 1:20 seconds off from the start
Dumoulin doesn't ride.

Is it confirmed that he wont start tomorrow. He could single handedly award the trophy to his team.
Sky has no TTers in their squad

Well Gilbert & Gaviria were nowhere to be seen so it's pretty logical that they "failed".
But yeah, still a surprise they're not even in the first group.

You must've not been watching Cali where Dibben smashed the TT.

Funnily, although Wellens had a pretty bad day yesterday, his points were still extremely important. His team is third, but without him I think they wouldn't even be in the top 8, or they at least would be behind Trek.

Yes, Dumoulin said so himself. Yesterday already. In need of a rest. He won't ride. Period.

If the UCI put on a race with this much confusion as to the points and standings, the riders and teams would be all over twitter screaming about the ridiculous amount of unprofessionalism and lack of clarity, and turning the sport into a circus.

But it's Velon, so everything's probably OK.

I think it is clear, it is just some media that got lost on the rules.

Do I understand correctly that Movistar are supposed to start 6 seconds after Nippo? So Hammertime is set up with multiple large start houses to let two TTTs get set up and go off with proper timing so quickly?

Orica and Trek, another very small time difference for starting.

Or is there no start house and the teams just line up on the road in different lanes with some sort of timing equipment?

My theory about Vanmarcke's little... mishap... was that he probably did know that they weren't winning anything, but the moment he approached the finish line the instinct of "I'm crossing the line first*. I'm winning!" from road racing - mass starts - just kicked in.

*Well, first for the last time.

It was no big celebration: just showing the jersey. Photojournalists need something to print.

Velon seem to have decided to set the published rules to one side so that Trek could make the final, despite scoring zero in the climb stage.

Trek have been placed 8th, on the basis of 1st + unplaced.

7th on tomorrow's startlist are Orica, with accumulated positions score of 14 (4th yesterday, 10th today, accumulated points, 104.4)
Missing the top 8 race are LottoNL, with accumulated positions of 15 (7th yesterday, 8th today, accumulated points 64.1)

After a blank yesterday, Trek's 70.7 today means that they are treated as having an accumulated position of 14 or 15. So they are treated as having come 13th or 14th yesterday, when in fact they were one of 6 teams who were joint last. If they treated all those teams as 11th, they would have been between Nippo-Fantini and Movistar in the start list for tomorrow.

In the style of UCI, making it up as they go along.

Actually, the ranking seems to have been changed.

Because Sinkeldam withdrew, all his points have been taken away from Sunweb, causing them to drop in the results. It means Lotto jumps to 6th and is 8th in the GC.
And it means Sky is leading...

Those time gaps are wrong, according to previously published criteria.

Sunweb: 2nd (12") + 5th (6") = 18": treat that as a base: 18-18=0
Sky: 3rd (10") + 4th (8")-18=0, - 30 =-30
Lotto S: 9th (2") + 2nd (12") -18= -4, -55= -59
Nippo Fantini 6th (5") + 6th (5") -18 = -8, -75 = -83
Movistar: 1st (15") + 12th (0") -18 = -3, -90 = -93
Cannondale: 10th (1") + 3 (10") -18 = -7, - 105 = -112
Orica: 4th (8") + 10th (1") -18 = -9, -120 = -129
Trek: nowhere, but apparently 14th (0") + 1st (15") - 18 = -3, - 135 = -138

So they seem to have everything outside the top 3 wrong, unless someone can point out my error.
