wow. The disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong is tackling different venues lately.
Any tri's around your neck of the woods krebby?

Maybe he is going to try his hand at bullfighting

A big Texan cowboy stopped at a local restaurant following a day of drinking and roaming around in Mexico. While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, but the smell was wonderful..

He asked the waiter, "What is that you just served?" The waiter replied, "Ah Senor, you have excellent taste! Those are bull's testicles from the bullfight this morning. A delicacy!"

The cowboy, undaunted, said, "What the heck, I'm on vacation, I'll have some!" The waiter replied, "I am so sorry Senor. There is only one serving per day because there is only one bullfight each morning. If you place your order now, we will be sure to save you this delicacy for tomorrow"

The cowboy placed the order and the next evening he was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a few bites, and inspecting the contents of his platter, he called to the waiter and said, "These are delicious, but there's only one and it is much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday"

The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, "Si, Senor ... sometimes the bull wins."

Navy Seals publicity stunt + cancer sheild + "Lance is innocent until proven guilty" quote = attempt for PR bonanza

sorry can't see a link.

Desperate pathetic attempt at garnering public support through genuine heroes? If true, what despicable creatures he and all in TeamLance really are

Your google-fu needs work ;-) (google:"navy seals" "lance armstrong") First link:

http://triathlete-europe.competitor.com/2012/09/03/lance-armstrong-to-race-superfrog-triathlon/
The SuperFrog Triathlon is known for being the longest-standing half-iron distance race in the world and takes place in Coronado, Calif. Navy Seals created the event in 1979 as a training opportunity for the Ironman World Championship. The 2012 race will be contended on Sept. 30. Armstrong’s intentions of racing aren’t necessarily out of left field as the race offered an invitation to him back on June 20, before he had decided not to fight the USADA charges.

ETA
We’d simply like to abide by the principle that Lance is innocent until proven guilty,” SuperFrog Race Director Mitch Hall said in a press release back in June. “We also believe that Armstrong’s role as a great American philanthropist aligns well with SuperFrog’s mission to serve as a philanthropic force in the Navy Seal and Special Forces communities.”

From http://www.livestrong.com: Navy Seals Workout Training
http://www.livestrong.com/article/455870-navy-seals-workout-training/

etc.

Ah love it.

So one of the guys who I trained with this morning said Lance Armstrong came to visit them on the last day of "Hell Week". Apparently he brought a camera crew and it was all for some TV show or something. Well this company of SEAL recruits just spent 4 days being physically torchered and moving non-stop with only a combined 4 hours of sleep for the week. They are wet, their skin is rubbed raw by the sand in their cammies, and they could give a **** about Lance Armstrong and would just like to collapse in a heap. Well Lance comes out and runs the 'O course' (an extremely rough obstacle course), stopping for photos and smiling the whole way. The recruits didn't think there was anything funny or cute about this, and were a little offended by his clean look.

Later Lance essentially gets up and gives them a "motivational speech", comparing the Tour de France with BUD/s training. Well, the tour may be 3 weeks, but BUD/s is 16-hour days of non-stop torture for 6 months. There is a 75% attrition rate. But he gets up and gives this mundane motivational speech and all the guys have a '**** off' attitude.

So Q&A comes along and the guys get a little fresh with him. One guy made a comment that Lance was only successful because he had no balls(original). Well apparently Lance wasn't too off put by this, but the instructors were. As soon as the door shut behind Lance, every man was told to drop and they began a 2-hour "beating" of pushups, flutter kicks, rabbit chases, and monkey ****ers(I love that name). The instructors circling them gave no clear reason why they were being punished, except taunting the men saying, "Lance won't be back to save you. He's probably at the club getting a mouth of tail right now". The whole ordeal culminated with a 3 MILE BEAR CRAWL..!!..which is exactly as it sounds. My buddy said it was so bad he ****ed himself.

based on Lance's share of the Demand Media IPO vs the share going his foundation, I'll bet on.......Lance having the bigger share.

Based on research here much goes to the naming rights of stadiums and "donations" designed to provide political protection. Those lobbyists don't work for free although their work seems to also focus on pressuring folks in Congress to stop pestering his Holiness.

Cancer victims? Not sure they get anything except a yellow band and a brochure making them more aware.

No content here. The writer is projecting that cancer patients may be feeling betrayed.

Not sure of your point. Media coverage of the Live strong lie makes more people take notice and fewer people reach in their pockets. It's great to see the article.

Or are you suggesting someone does market research interviewing Livestrong betrayed people? Not a bad idea... I suspect Livestrong is monitoring that already also...

If you're really interested, you can register with guidestar.org and download Livestrong's tax return - Form 990. It has a list of all of their grants.

They've been discussed at length, early in this forum. Read back and ask questions of those posting about the returns. I am really interested so I presume you have a specific return that might counter my dim view?

The tax returns are right on their website they are listed, that is a federal requirement. Don't be lazy. But, they don't really show anything IMO.

Now the real question is, the tax returns are not itemized accounting documents. Specific line items would be nice. But even then, depending on how you do your accounting and have your chart of accounts setup, you might lump 10 different types of things under a line item of "Grant".

The only way to know what actually was placed in that line item is to do an audit and pull the actual checks/financial documents, paperwork etc...to show what was paid to whom/when. Or received etc..

Getting a detailed chart of accounts and line items breakdown is never going to happen. This is true with any corporation in the US, unless you work for one and have that access on the accounting systems.

a slap down to Armstrong

It’s the cancer thing that’s been driving me crazy for years. It drives me nuts when people make a career out of being a “cancer survivor.”

I know your cancer had spread before you were diagnosed, but even so, the survival rates for testicular cancer are dramatic – between 80 and 99 percent. You were diagnosed in 1996; I was diagnosed in 1984.

Even back then, the doctors were matter-of-fact about my prognosis. Endure the surgeries and the chemo, they said, and you’ll be fine.

I know the treatment is nasty. My chemo cocktail was similar to yours and I wouldn’t wish those months of treatment on a suicide bomber. But as you said last week about fighting the drug allegations: “Enough is enough.”

Please apply that wisdom to the “cancer survivor” shtick. Since the testicular cancer, I’ve had cancer of the bladder and the prostate. Throw in some skin cancer, too. It’s all been annoying and unpleasant, but most cancer is treatable these days. Surviving the disease does not make you special.

ouch.

end

now that lance has stepped down from the livestrong board is this really the end of discussions within the clinic re livestrong/lance?

it did appear that lance hoped to stay connected to livestrong but growing
public anger to his actions made this impossible without major damage to the charity

can livestrong exist without lance / can lance thrive without livestrong?

livestrong.com continues............how many 'clicks' will it now receive?

as this whole cancer 'charity' is extremely dodgy who is to say what Cancer Jesus standing down really means?

So i imagine the thread will continue as info leaks out about where the money really goes.
