He raced the WC U23 ITT last year, which was longer.

It's gonna be like 32 minutes, nothing mythical in terms of distance.

Didn't do the research but that's what I read in the newspaper. Maybe he meant on pro level.

I expect him to lose a bit (10-25 seconds to Roglic) and but imo the biggest pressure is on Ayuso to end the day closer in GC to Del Toro than to Roglic in order to assert the team pecking order.

Because of the lack of experience I estimate he can ship up to 2s/km to the top GC contenders (Roglic/Ayuso) so any loss below 60 sec can be considered a good ITT. If he's able to stay within 15-30 secs, the main rivals should be bothered.

It's gonna be the longest TT distance he's ever done. Like in the high mountains, we don't know yet what he's capable of in these TT's.

It's longest he's done at pro-level, but not that much further than ITT in Vuelta last year. 24.6km v. 28.6km.

In the Vuelta he was in worse shape, and with a lot of ups and downs in performance, he finished 42s behind Roglic. I think he'll lose 30-45s tomorrow.

I wouldnt be entirely surprised if he is able to bring this one home. To me he is a future GT winner, the way he pushes the paddles just seems so extremely easy, that sometimes its just like you are watching Pogacar himself. (With some less watts at the moment)

The guy is also super allround, very good Climber, really punchy, good TT, great downhiller and also good in these type of sterrato races. With years and experience the output in watts is likely to grow, but in this Giro he might just already have the level to keep the jersey all the way to the end if his team supports him.

We gotta wait and see for the high mountains, but looks promissing. On the other hand, you don't perform like that on the sterrato uphill and then suddenly lose form, especially since he is a climber. I'll be watching with great interest to see how he does in week three.

If he's on a super day he'll be with Ayuso and Roglic, more or less, then ad astra.
