Wow terrible news, i can't believe it and yesterday he still had a rather strong ride. Hope they found it in an early stage.

Stay strong basso family.

I guess thank god that he crashed on stage 5

Testicular cancer. Found out today.
Apparently found out after a routine examination on the fifth day - after a minor crash.

He had been complaining after that crash on stage 5 and went to the hospital today were they found out.

Horrible news, though I guess it's a good thing he had that crash. Hopefully it means they caught it early and he'll be able to make a quick and full recovery.

Jesus, the negativity. Of course, cancer is serious business, but you're acting like he's dead already. That kind of overwhelming negativity and outright fear that probably surrounds Basso right now certainly can't help with his recovery.

That's really good, i knew it was 'one the best cancers you can have' (how strange that might sound) but didn't think it was that high.

Tinkoff-Saxo's doctor says that Basso has a '98 to 99 per cent chance' of a full recovery.

Just a shock to people I think, but you're right - so take this as a positive message:

Good luck with it all Ivan, hope to see you at next year's tour!

Big shock to Saxo as well, to think Basso has done a Giro and a first week of a Tour with this is incredible. The team morale will be low you'd feel. Get well soon smiling assassin!

Some will feel like that and some will gain strenght from it. Humans are different after all.
