He didn't race a good TT. Just an average one. This TT was slow, perfect for him and delivered even at 80%.It looks like his new TT hand position possibly did help him.

His first ever ProSeries wins. Career milestone unlocked.
He was in terrible shape in Pologne. He lost his last TT to freaking Tim Wellens, so it is a step in the right direction.
Damn, first wins in 2.Pro races at least.CQ Ranking - Faun Drôme Classic

Didn’t expect him to still win it to be honest. I expect him to have a great spring campaign, and if he’s able to win TDF he’ll probably win velo d’or again
Yeah, weird. Seen alone, the time on the flat is extremely encouraging. But wout said the 'flat' part was quite bumpy and difficult (or something along those lines), so it's possible that it suited him better than one would think initially.Funny time trial to judge. He was incredible in the flat (not normal if he's at 80%) and beaten on the climb. Probably he went a bit too deep on the flat but still
I don't think being beaten on the climb means much today, riders took different pacing strategies. Almeida went considerably slower on the flat, despite normally being a very decent flat TTer. Same goes for Gregoire and Roglic, who both chose to dopretty severe negative splits. Vingegaard went really hard on the flat, paid for it a bit on the climb, but won by a good margin in the end which is what he cared about to begin with.Average performance but definitely not a good sign that Vingegaard got beaten on both climbs in the race by several others.
We are so back and this is only the beggining until the apocalypse in the summer.OK then..! We're back in business!?
Since the Pogster FAILED to take the record on hafeet and won't be timed up a single mountain until June we'll have all spring to dreamWe are so back and this is only the beggining until the apocalypse in the summer.
On the uphill finish Vingegaard had an entire peloton on his wheel, and had to do all the work himself. If it was Almeida in this position, and Vingegaard on his wheel, no doubt the gap on the finish line would have been the reverse.Average performance but definitely not a good sign that Vingegaard got beaten on both climbs in the race by several others. That being said its februar.. the best sign for him was he stepped up from the first mountain stage and visibly progressed(thats a good sign and most important here, which makes it logical he maybe just missed some race days in his legs).
But as far as its possible to conclude anything which it hardly is btw this early, its that Almeida is closer to him than he was last year, 14 sec overall is less than i expected before the race. Not that its worth reading much into this in februar, it doesnt mean that much.
I noticed that he was the only one who rode with a single chainring (other than De Plus who changed bike to one with a smaller gear), so I guess he rode Malhão in a bigger gear than others. He also had some kind of extension to his saddle:

You mean like a massage saddle where there isn't any insertion or a vibrator you would actually insert? The things you guys make me think about...„He also had some kind of extension to his saddle:“
Serious question: are the pros actually allowed to ride something like a vibrator on the saddle, to have a beautiful feeling during the race?
Good catch, looks like Vingo's saddle has wings or some such on the back (is it more aero or maybe just more comfortable?), and he doesn't even ride for Red Bull.I noticed that he was the only one who rode with a single chainring (other than De Plus who changed bike to one with a smaller gear), so I guess he rode Malhão in a bigger gear than others. Definitely wait, but I think everyone knows last year's Tour wasn't a good reference, and it will be much much closer when he's in top shape with a proper build upSo is this performance enough to win the Tour or do we have to wait?
