What kind of team would hire a rider without looking at his blood profile today?

No chance that Sky wasn't aware.

I think more to the point; how did he dope for the WCs in Italy without Brailford knowing. Unless Brailsford doped him.

I don't imagine JTL transported his EPO to Italy nor took it prior to leaving.

In the simplest possible terms, he was training with Sky for much of 2012. Heck they help control the ToB for him to win it.

He may have been an Endura rider in name, but he was already working with Sky.

For the World RR (which result was also voided), he was directly working with British Cycling (meaning Sky coaches etc).

Excellent post.

Simple

As a Conti level rider, he didn't have a blood profile.

Of course they SHOULD have done their own labs during training camps. (say for 6 months or so)
ie Created their own version of a passport just to be sure.

From Sky's statement:

"Anomalous readings in Tiernan-Locke’s biological passport were taken in September 2012, shortly before he signed his two-year contract with Team Sky and three months before his first race with the team."

So, his bloods levels are all over the place as soon as he joins the biological passport around the time he won the Tour of Britain.

Wouldn't his new team have access to these anomalous readings and have known in the autumn of 2012, as soon as he's been tested a handful of times?

Too use a football analogy - he was basically on loan at Sky during that time.

At the time they weren't anomalous (as they were his only readings) it was only after his results and values nosedived they became so.

You mean Netherlands/Limburg, right?

Yes, thanks for correction.

Same point stands. As he doped for the WC he couldn't have done it prior to leaving.

So when did he dope and how did he transport it? Or did he have a dealer on the ground?

Unlikely. Brailsford/BC must have assisted him.

Fairly obviously now why UKAD delayed the hearing until the Tour so it would get buried in the news.

Tour is probably the worst time for it. There is a reason why when brailsford was asked about kerrison he lied that he would find answers straight away and waited for the off season.

strange that sky with their world famous internal controls couldnt figure out he was doping.

Because maybe he wasn't doping. Not until he was at the Sky training camps and representing Britain at the Worlds. Still trying to work when he had the opportunity to dope at the worlds without Brailsford knowing.

Call me naive

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

Why do you hate Sky's success?:D

Let's not forget the UCI declined JTL's volunteering for the bio-passport when he was a Continental pro.

Sky could have even made him a subject of one of their studies and never test positive. So many ways to never test positive, and yet....

Call me naive but i just dont see how Sky and Brailsford are gonna risk completely ruining their reputations and basically commitingncareer suicide by doping some guy they've just signed so he can win a 2.2 stage race and finish top 30 innthe worlds

Maybe they thought he would become the new Froome?

How did he dope for Haut Var? Brailsford too?

So when's JTL gonna sell his story about 'how I doped with team Sky' to the media for millions?

He probably won't. I assume he will have received quite a nice payout from Sky to keep his mouth closed.

He had won Tour Mediterranean, Haut Var and been second to Quintana in Murcia before Sky had even met him. If this is Sky's doing then those performances must have been clean. I don't think that, do you?

He wasn't working for them. He went to one training camp in May - so have lots of other non-Sky GB riders over the years.

And as for Sky controlling the ToB for him - they couldn't control anything - they treated most of that race like it was Bernie Eisel's stag do.

Ok, but nobody is calling you naive.

As pointed out above, however, it is beyond shameful for Sky to have not screened a rider themselves who was basically representing their team.

This is a classic story that is 'too good to be true'. As a result, JTL was begging to be tested. In other words, he looked like a doper, and, oh my gosh, he was a doper...

Sky's interest in him alone alone should be more than enough reason for Sky to want to screen the candidate so they don't look like fools.

They may not have doped him, but they apparently didn't do anything to stop or slow him down.

Are they really that naive?

Don't take this the wrong way, but it is easier to think you naive than Sky.

Dave.

Suddely his performances are suspicious, even without evidence.
