Not at all. Subtext is used in writing to provide a point without saying it. Which appears now JTL is the enemy.

Poor guy. Hung out to dry by Sky and now the bots have sent him to the gallows.

Just to be very clear. There was no subtext in my initial post. Just a very explicit observation on a very narrowly defined scope: someone saying 'I didn't ask for the hearing to be delayed, my lawyer did' isn't, on the face of it, the most intelligent thing I've ever heard. You can agree or disagree with that statement as you see fit. Please remember to show your workings.

For the record, I wish JTL no ill-will, nor do I have any opinion on his cleanliness or otherwise. If he is found to be innocent and cleared to race I will be delighted, as it means he can get on with his career; if he is found guilty and banned on one level I will be disappointed and slightly saddened, and will be hoping he can go on and find happiness in some other avenue of his life, on the other I will be happy a cheat has been caught and banned. How either decision impacts upon Team Sky is literally of no concern of mine at all.

Thehog, try to avoid putting words into people's mouths or referring to them as 'bots'. It reflects badly upon you.

Doesn't reflect badly on me in the slightest. I made the Skybots name up and it has stuck rather nicely for the last 2.5 years.

You guys should just outsource your posts to a team in India. Save yourselves the time to post.

Pretend-fence sitters

JTL is getting a rough ride by Sky. He has been hung out to dry and distanced by the team blaming it all on Endura. Classy. The bots follow suit. The guy needs a break before he becomes the next Ricco.

JTL has basically become toxic to any WT team. Even if cleared it is unlikely he will ever be hired at that level.

And considering the internal hurdles the UCI has to go through to open a Biopassport case the chance of him being cleared is almost zero.

They only open slam dunks, that are defensible ' in court' (they are 3/3 for CAS appeals IIRC)

Agreed. Hence being hung out to dry.

Sky should be ashamed of themselves. But of course it's an Endura problem

JTL win, lose or draw will never ride pro at any level ever again. Back go the bike shop to get fat.

Haven't followed this story. Can you give me a potted summary of why its not Enduras problem? All I've read is that the dodgy biopass test was before his time at Sky.

I just saw this article on the main site:

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/tiernan-locke-denies-requesting-hearing-delay

So it seems that the delay is because one of his legal representatives is not available, the argument over who asked for it seems pretty irrelevant if that is the case.

I'd be very interested to know who is representing him.

FWIW, in the recent past, the lawyers that end up on arbitration boards are also representing clients in other sport arbitration or even working for sports federations. So, sport arbitration has become a small club where everyone knows each other with hopelessly complex conflicts of interests.

The potted summary is that he spent most of that year training with Sky and BC, rather than Endura.

If nothing else it will appear in the UKAD decision documents.

OK, thanks. When you say 'training with Sky' what does that actually mean? Was he under contract with them?

Dont understand the hog's negative reaction saying Sky have hung him out to dry. Isn't that exactly what they should be doing to a doper?

Agreed. It's like an old mans club. A masonic lodge. Considering others who've gone up on BPA I don't like his chances guilty or innocent. Pelezotti is a good example.

I assume he might confess after his two year ban unless Brailsford pays him off. Although Cookson has probably done a deal.

Which is why I'd be very interested to know who is representing him now, rather than later.

I hope he has other ways to make a living because it doesn't look like cycling wants him around.

This case is another reminder of the totally random handling of doping cases by the UCI. Some guys are *swiftly* sanctioned and return to elite teams, others never sanctioned, others pursued across the globe, and somehow others regardless of sanction status cannot ever be hired by a high-ranking team again.

No. Literally he was doing Altitude camps and the like with the Sky Ridersunder supervision of their back room team The cost presumably paid for by BC, as he was heading to the Roads Worlds as a serious contender.

His official signing came not long after the transfer season opened, but even before he was with Endura in name only.

(Sort of like Wiggo in 2009. He worked heavily with BC coaches, not the Garmin backroom team)

Rogers is a good example. He knew the result as he said nothing and was back for LBL after his quick 3 month self sanction.

JTL hasn't even tested positive and his still in the dark. The dark forces continue under Cookson.

His Sky colored powermeter at the worlds said it all. Full program.

That's the whole point of the biopass.

People don't test positive on it.

Looks like its working though.....and working against British self-interest.

That's a good thing surely?

So Sky/UCI/UKAD/whoever find evidence of doping on JTLs bio passport and suspend him until the hearing..... a hearing his team have now delayed.....

.... and this is supposed to reflect badly on Sky?

What prey tell would the wise heads of the clinic do?.... have Sky continue to race an athlete shortly to be found guilty of doping?.... perhaps Sky should defend JTL to the hilt only to look like idiots if/when he is found guilty?....Sky are doing what Tinkoff did with Rogers and suspending their rider until he is either cleared or convicted.... but I forgot that because it's Sky there is obviously something fishy going on instead!

Got to love this place.

Well, I don't know. It would probably be a good idea if people want to bash a given team that they should at least make sure it is consistent with their other stated views. Otherwise it makes it very hard to take them seriously.

To be fair, most people think that there is something spectacularly fishy going on with Sky AND other teams, certainly including Tinkoff. You can't seriously say that isn't the case. Right?
