Gianetti and Maxtin looking like two high ranking members of the politburo glaring ominously over the ramparts of the Kremlin at a young bureaucrat who failed to meet this months wheat quota. I fear for his future.
He'll get a flu virus or something to DNF like last year at the Tour.

Not saying you're wrong but if you need everything to go your way to win a GT you're probably destined to win very few of them (or possibly nome). Not getting ill, managing pain, managing bad days, overcoming adversities are all part of the package.

I'm sympathetic toward Ayuso though, he's currently in a tough position being touted as the next big thing, podiuming his first ever GT as a teenager and then never performing at that level again. Must be a nightmare. A change of scenery could probably help him.
This! This is why it's so cynical to drum up such young people. They are so darn vulnerable.

I admit I've enjoyed the drama, I still do. But this hatred towards him has gone way too far by now and it's not like he's in good hans either 🤢

0 reason for UAE to let him go, 0 reason for anyone to buy him out at inflated price. I don't see why he wouldn't finish his contract.

Noone will need to buy Ayuso out of his contract if he is not wanted by the team. This buy out clause is a red herring.

I still enjoy hating on him.

maybe you do with some irony. those *** hate him personally. angry with him. those tweeps who'd never turned a pedal, having a go at a rider whose talent they'll never even imagine. I hate those Spaniards even more than the Sky haters

I don't cheer for him, but he doesn't seem too bad, honestly. A little arrogant and hungry? Sure. You rarely get to the top if you aren't, though. It's not like he killed a cat or dropped a racial slur or anything. I wouldn't mind seeing him go to a different team, though. I'd like Del Toro to, as well. But likely neither of those things will happen, and we will be stuck with them all on one team. At least Pellizzari is on Bora.

What else would good old Mauro say? Only time will tell.

Personally I'd be in favor of spreading the good riders across more teams. Would be way more fun to watch.
Imagine a Tour that could be won 6 people instead of 2.

Stagnation or no stagnation, he has had impressively bad luck in his GTs. Covid in the 2022 Vuelta, completely messed up season hindering him in the 2023 Vuelta, Covid again in last year's Tour and now a knee injury. That's four from four GTs where he has been prevented from performing at 100%. If he was more likeable (and preferably not on UAE) it would have made him a Landa-esque popular underdog.
As well as lacking the likeability/charisma of landa, as you mention in your post, what always went in landas favour was that he was always attacking and raced on instinct ( less so nowadays as he became more a diesel). Helped him to be a popular undergod. I don't see this in ajuso. He is always hiding, following and does not do big attacks. He is also, according to other riders , very obsessively following numbers and looking his watts in the race.

Although is hard for me to like anyone on team UAE, I do not know ajuso enough to particularly dislike him. But at the same time, I don't know what appeal there is to support him. He does not do interviews, he does not have an impact on races, he doesn't attack, he doesn't help his teammates and do big pulls on camera, and because of his team and the fact that he wins enough outside of GTs, he doesn't seem like an underdog in anyway.

Perhaps if gianetti and Martin openly dislike him enough I'll start to support him

In reality, that's never happened except in transitional years.

TDF has historically been a duel between two cyclists; it's even been rare for it to be a three riders duel.
It's even been more common for it to be a one rider duel than a three riders duel

You are right of course. Hence the "just imagine" part. If Ayuso and del toro were to become a bit better and were on different teams, we could atleast have somewhat of an illusion of a 5 man fight next year. But yeah.. daydreams. Let's see what happens to good old Juan.

You can’t expect all the young riders to turn into Pogacar, which seems to be UAE’s problem. Ayuso and Del Toro have a lot of talent, but they are still so young. Just because we suddenly had an influx of super talents when the stars aligned doesn’t mean that guys who don’t win immediately are without potential to win one day. When you hit 24 is when we should really see a rider winning GTs. Sure some have potential to win immediately, but then are washed by the time they reach 31 years old.

heh ask Enric Mas about Spanish twitter. They are brutal.

Old?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I can't believe how some people think what happened in the Tour is overreaction from Pogacar diehard fans. Almeida's reaction and Yates post race interview were very telling. His late withdraw in 2024 Ardennes is not overreaction from Pogacar fans. He is getting leadership and he is failling miserably.
