Like Wellens in the Tour?

Yes. Pogacar gave the opportunity to Wellens, like he did for A.Yates in stage one of the 2023 TDF, but the circumstances have to be right. This validates my point that the only rider in the peleton who deserves a totally DEDICATED team is Pogacar. Reading that riders like Ayuso or Remco need a full team is nonsense.

I don't see an issue with how he's riding. There's not obligation to ride for Almeida. That's not how UAE works. If everyone else can do what they want, I don't see why it should be different for him. Team only works as a team if it's for Pogacar, and otherwise it's everyone for themselves.
He didn't want to do that either

By the way, on the day of the presentation, Ayuso said his goal was the overall. And if he couldn't, he wanted to win a stage and help Almeida, who was the other leader. Obviously, he said that because it was the team's goal, not because it came from his heart :tearsofjoy: .

I'd love to see what you'd be saying if Pogacar behaved in certain ways. They're already criticizing him for absurd things, because there's always something to criticize him for.

I'm fascinated by the correlation between criticizing Pogacar for any nonsense and justifying everything to Ayuso, when even Spanish fans and journalists are criticizing him.

By saying this you invalidate your opinion because it is changing your opinion based on the cyclist's name.
I'm fascinated by Pogacar fans who keep on hating on him for normal behavior because he didn't want to help Pogi last TDF.

Juan Ayuso-searching for a place to go or a place to hide. He is a breath of fresh air. Juan Ayuso is a maverick, a cosmic coyote, too deep to be appreciated by the general public but too true to his spirit to compromise. He continues to be an inspiration to birds of the same feather.

Ayuso reminds me of Evenepoel. They're about the same age (Evenepoel a little older), they've had one good GT result very early in their career, and now every GT they enter there's a lot of hype surrounding them but you just know they're going to collapse at some point. Evenepoel's Tour last year was the exception that proves the rule.

I don't know the reason, maybe it's because both of them were so good as juniors that they just won every race they entered and they don't really know how to suffer. Or maybe they just peaked too early. Pogacar was good as a kid but not that good, Vingegaard wasn't even among the best juniors. Maybe that's it.

Hate this transfer. Lidl-Trek is a team I really like with a group of riders that seem to have a strong cohesion and standout with teamwork.

Pedersen, Ciccone but also guys like Vacek and Nys are really nice to watch and develop and I am also excited to watch the development of mostly Philipsen but also guys like Soderqvist and Alvarez.

Ayuso so far hasnt shown anything to like and comes across as super selfish and no fit with the current team culture at all. So very poor move for me. If he would have gone to a team of free roamers like EF or Badboys like Astana I would have been fine.

For me, he'd fit into teams like Ineos or Movistar. GT teams that would give him seven domestiques.

At LIDL, he'll have to accept that Pedersen or Milan will be going to the Tour with their domestiques, that he won't be the team's only protagonist.

He's going to have problems.

Ayuso to Lidl-Trek? I thought Lidl-Trek would go for loyal and stable riders.
Is that reported to be a done deal? Because I thought that the reason a Movistar transfer wasn't going to happen was that they couldn't afford to buy out his current contract. But if the old contract is terminated, they might be back in the game? I think it would work for both sides, clearly money isn't the number 1 factor for Ayuso.
