Hate this transfer. Lidl-Trek is a team I really like with a group of riders that seem to have a strong cohesion and standout with teamwork.

Pedersen, Ciccone but also guys like Vacek and Nys are really nice to watch and develop and I am also excited to watch the development of mostly Philipsen but also guys like Soderqvist and Alvarez.

Ayuso so far hasnt shown anything to like and comes across as super selfish and no fit with the current team culture at all. So very poor move for me. If he would have gone to a team of free roamers like EF or Badboys like Astana I would have been fine.

I thought they would tweet about his DNF from the race.
It makes no sense to keep him in the Vuelta, it will hurt the team even more.

With this, Matxin's kisses the other day look even more ridiculous.

For me, he'd fit into teams like Ineos or Movistar. GT teams that would give him seven domestiques.

At LIDL, he'll have to accept that Pedersen or Milan will be going to the Tour with their domestiques, that he won't be the team's only protagonist.

He's going to have problems.

Is that reported to be a done deal? Because I thought that the reason a Movistar transfer wasn't going to happen was that they couldn't afford to buy out his current contract. But if the old contract is terminated, they might be back in the game? I think it would work for both sides, clearly money isn't the number 1 factor for Ayuso.

They're about the same age (Evenepoel a little older), they've had one good GT result very early in their career, and now every GT they enter there's a lot of hype surrounding them but you just know they're going to collapse at some point. Evenepoel's Tour last year was the exception that proves the rule.

I don't know the reason, maybe it's because both of them were so good as juniors that they just won every race they entered and they don't really know how to suffer. Or maybe they just peaked too early. Pogacar was good as a kid but not that good, Vingegaard wasn't even among the best juniors. Maybe that's it.

I get what you are basically saying, but I don't think they're really that similar past the superficial level. Evenepoel's palmares are far superior in TTs, road races, and stage races. In short, he is a more proven winner.

Yes Ineos or Movistar would be more then fine as well for me.

Why? They all know he‘s gone, now anything he contributes is a bonus. No need to give that up prematurely.

He already knew who he was signing the contract with. And the UAE, as a team, has treated him much better than other teams that, when a rider leaves, send him to a shitty calendar. The UAE gave him two Grand Tours and several races to lead in his final year.

He's done things wrong. And ultimately, his teammates aren't to blame.

It should be emphasized that this is not Ayuso's first contract; he renewed . He isn´t a victim.

I was surprised to learn that the UAE knew this for a long time. Other teams in this situation ban riders and punish them by sending them to the worst races.
UAE has behaved frankly well with Ayuso, even though they know he's leaving.
Most teams choose to punish riders who have a contract and decide not to continue.

All this taking into account that Ayuso decided to renew his contract. It's not like it was his first contract and he regretted it. No, he knew what he was doing when he renewed.
