yeah I guess your right.

Also the season schedule was made before Jonas crashed: Ayuso wouldn’t be crazy to reckon that Visma would do most of the work and leave him free to just do his own gc.

And being a young ambitious dude he probably thought he was better than he was.

It's completely comical that someone would post a buyout figure for Ayuso, if I read it right for @100 million..
I also think it's funny how disconnected people really are often from bike racing reality.. When I first started racing there were multiple beer and liquor sponsors and Camel cigarettes were a passive sponsor because multiple bike races were held at motorcycle and car racing venues where Camel, but more specifically Joe Camel images were everywhere!!
Cigarette advertising could not be avoided in many sports until recent years. McDonald's and other confirmed unhealthy foods and beverages have been bike racing sponsors and are currently. Oil companies and arms manufacturers are and have been sponsors..
So I know it was done as a joke, fake account (s) but if some popular porn company, companies want to sponsor bike racing or a mobile birthing clinic, I don't see a conflict!!
Hell if Floyd Landis can sponsor a race and a team there is enough room for everyone!! Maybe bike racers can make money being cam models!!

I don't. Ayuso has been touted as the next big thing since he was a junior, is objectively the best teenage climber in history and was probably promised some big things in order for his pen to hit Emirati paper. In all likelihood he has been surrounded by yes-men for a long portion of his short career. Once you hear 'yes' for long enough, you'll start to believe in delusions to a point where one thinks they deserve things they can hardly dream about. Very footballesque behaviour.

Very good summary. Maybe he needs a stint with Movistar to hit reality again.

Had Ayuso kept his focus on the Vuelta a Espana he certainly would lineup in Spain as captain this month!

If he's in full shape he actually still deserves to get team-leadership ahead of Almeida. He has beaten him twice when both focused on the Vuelta a Espana!

Ayuso has put himself in this situation by bad season planning & bad behavior!

I'm all for Ayuso's behavior. He doesn't want to become another Soler. UAE paid the superstar money for Ayuso and now they complain he acts like a superstar? Go figure.

Would love to see him move to Red Bull, tho. Seems like every race this year Roglic ends up acting as a domestique for Vlasov of all people. Much more respectable to ride in service of a true prima donna.

Soler does whatever he wants at any race where Pogacar is absent. What's the problem for Ayuso to accept that while Pogacar is head and shoulders ahead of him?

But he's not a superstar - yet and I don't see how he would ever become another Soler? He is riding in the same team as Pogacar. At 21, he needs to wait and deliver solid results in service for his leader then he has earned the right. Like João Almeida.

In 2008 Andy Schleck showed how it should be done. Andy came 2nd in the 2007 Giro when he was just 22. At the 2008 Tour Andy rode as part of a three pronged CSC team. Carlos Sastre won the Tour. No complaints from Andy.
