I totally understand that, as a Pogacar fan, you mistrust/dislike Ayuso for apparent dereliction of duty in the 2024 TdF.

But explain how his abandon today was selfishness? With what I assume is considerable discomfort, limited field of vision and depth perception, he would have been a menace in a peloton, and should not have been allowed to start.

What was selfish in his DNF today?

There was an article yesterday in spain saying the he will probably miss the national championship and will be back in San Sebastian with the Worlds as his target for the rest of year.

Ayuso told to a Spanish media that he probably won't compete in the national championships because he needs to recover from the Giro.

Those championships are at the end of June. If he's in doubt about competing at the end of June, he couldn't go to Slovenia or Switzerland, which they're also talking about.

He already said a week ago he is doing the farmers' schedule: San Sebastian, Burgos, Maybe Pologne, a trip to Canada, Euro Champs, World's...
He should start polishing Dracula's bald head in hopes of getting traded somewhere at the end of the season.

I think it's wrong to comment about the character of Ayuso from a cycling fan perspective. We don't really now.

But its pretty clear for me that Ayuso isn't really liked within the UAE team riders. I also heard this from the cycling magazine podcast. Wegmann and/or Geschke talked to riders within the UAE team and they were happy that Ayuso was out of the Tour to focus on the win of Pog.
It's just not a match anymore. He had his shot at the Giro but it looks like one crashed ruined it. He also doesn't want to be in a role where he solely has to rider for another rider. So there is nothing left for him in this season in a team like UAE. The only climbing tours left are TDS, Dauphine, Tour and Vuelta.
