You are kidding, right?
nope. Thoughtforfood is a well respected poster, and you took a shot at him. You need to compartmentalise the vitriol and personal, and see what he has to say. Insightful voice, and should be listened to.

if TFF is a troll, that make me one too. Well, better a troll than an ignorant nuff nuff trying to quiet alternative voices, and some quite well informed opinions.

No. You are not a troll. You have some ideas that are 'out there'. But you seem genuinely inquisitive.

Well TFF is not really a troll either, although he does enjoy trolling from time to time. I think of a troll more in terms of making statements in an effort to simply keep an argument going and not because he has strong opinions on the subject but just for the sake of argument. Some of TFF's best efforts are more along the line of argument killers than perpetuators.

Walsh wont take up JV's invite, he has moved on - there are bigger fish to fry, he is now on Rugby Union. It's a much bigger sport commercially in the UK, and I think there is a lot there for a journalist to scoop on. Plus the sport has not been scrutinised from a PED perspective - but it is a brutal vicious sport with huge power and endurance demands with a heavy and long season. I guess most of this forum are non-UK? To put it in perspective, during the season Rugby Union will get 6 pages in the Sport section of Walsh's paper, in July, with Wiggo going well, Kimmage will get a full page if he's lucky.

I am American but spent 3 years in the UK as a kid. Of course followed Rugby. I lost touch with the sport for decades. I was shocked when I watched the recent 6 Nations. It is a completely different game. The size and speed of the players is dramatically different then it was 20 years ago.

I am actually some strange troll hybrid...

Oh, and scribe, you play a little closer to my comment about my wife, and you will not be very happy with the outcome little man.

He isn't a troll, but you are a joke. The kind of joke others laugh at, but the subject never gets.

I do have one question for JV:

Why do some male cyclists need gynecologists?

Getting off track here, somewhat?
Anyhow, just to say some fascinating stuff, for an occasional visitor.
Nice to get some info, straight from the horse's mouth.
Certainly more credible than the usual diverse speculation.

Seems the clinic flourishes, while the pro race section is set to languish, for another 10 months....

Yes, indeed. It's pretty amazing, isn't it?
All down to plenty of weights and clean living...

To me, the big thing in all this is the Kimmage/Millar reconciliation - Kimmage was soooo hard on Millar and having been a pro must have a good nose for what is good vs too good to be true - I cant believe Kimmage would risk his anti-doping rep on Garmin if he didnt have total confidence they were legit.

That may be slightly OT so back on JV appreciation - the post about Contador made me think I could cut AC some more slack? He is visually a classier bike rider than everyone else, if everyone were clean I have no doubt he would win the GC of any GT he entered, but... Anyway thanks JV for making me feel a bit more +ve about that.

He has been a features writer, for all sports, over the years. The Harlequins blood problem and the Bath drugs issue have been prominent in recent weeks, but David has always covered a multitude of sports - Soccer, golf, horse racing, rugby, athletics and yes of course cycling. David's writing on cycling, whilst with the Sunday times has always been minimal. His three books on Lance have been done on sabbaticals from his job. The cycling writers for the Times are Owen Slot, Kimmage to a lesser extent, and Jeremy Whittle.

OK now, I don't get it. Was that in response to the joke thing or the gynecologist thing?

I think it was in regards to the personal hygiene needs of some male cyclists, but I could be wrong.

Wasn't Kimmage totally convinced that Kohl was clean because of his signs of exhaustion? And we all know how that turned out don't we? Thing is, there's a big difference between speculation on a forum based on such signs and putting things in print.

One thing I would be interested to know, is just how much JV's differing experiences on USPS and Credit Agricole have informed his attitudes to anti-doping at Garmin

Excerpt from Paul's Velocitynation interview:

AS: It's ironic, because one of the things you said was that when you saw Bernard Kohl completely exhausted...

PK: I got that completely wrong! I got that completely wrong.

AS: I know! Even the things you think bring you hope turn around and bite you in the ***.

PK: Absolutely. I got that completely wrong. I felt extremely foolish after it, but in my defense...David Millar, and this is a point he made to me, I had forgotten, over the last couple of years, was that there are good guys here, and they need your support as much as the bad guys, the dopers need your scorn. I'd forgotten about that, and he has a point. And the guys who are doing it clean they definitely need the support of everyone.

The Kohl one, felt like a complete fool, in my defense, again, with the Garmin thing, the Garmin guys, I put my neck on the line, it would be easy for me to say, "No no no, I'm not doing that", because it forces me to make judgements. To give an opinion. It's much easier to paint everyone as the same than to do that. But I was certainly exposed on Kohl, I got that completely wrong. But in terms of the overall race, I do think, and again, I'm using Christian Vande Velde as my barometer here, he could finish 4th and be so competitive, it gave me hope about the future. We'll see how competitive he'll be this year.

Unfortunately, a lot of the "crazies" from the Raod Race section have found us all hiding over here..... :( But I agree, there is a lot of really good stuff here in the clinic, especially with people like JV1973 and some of the ex-pros who are contributing. Very enlightening for someone who has only raced as an amateur.
