When did the Clinic turn from "**** the cheaters" to "anything that ****s Sky is good"? Take off your tinfoil hats.

1 rider is likely doping now
1 rider is likely doping and claims to be the cleanest, best thing that happened to the sport since god knows when, has made a totally unbelievable change from donkey to race horse, and basically nothing he says is reliable and has written a book in which he basically bashes everyone for no ****ing reason.

At least Lance had the cancer argument and did a lot for that

Everyone in this thread who keeps harping on about conspiracy and Sky and timing and blabla while ignoring that apparently Kreutiger's blood values indicate he was doping.

the blood values are not the suspicious part, i dont think anyone is suggesting that roman has not been a naughty boy

the suspicious part is the timing

The suspicious part to me is that he was more suspicious in 2013 performance-wise than in the period when the suspicious blood values were detected

Do you have any evidence? his experts say he is cleans.

But what does that have to with doping?

Even if there was foul play here (and I agree that it definitely shouldn't take that long between infraction, exposure of infraction, and charging an offender), it doesn't change anything about Kreuziger, Contador, Froome, etc. doping/not doping.

He's being charged, what more ****ing evidence should I need as an uninvolved observer?

The number of dopers who had experts testifying to their innocence is legion.

because doping and uci corruption go hand in hand perhaps?

Yeah, but my point is: if Kreuziger is a cheater, he's a cheater regardless of whether the UCI is honest.

This case stinks of corruption. Are the UCI the only organisation that can start a case because of the blood passport?
My reply is based on my reading of the WADA standards. I've been wrong before, so please check it out for yourself and correct me if I'm wrong.

To summarize, it depends on who the anti-doping authority is. You have to take a step backwards to fully answer that question.

The WADA standard creates an entity called the Anti-doping Authority. That could be the UCI, or a race organizer like ASO, or even a NADO if they order testing.

The anti-doping authority has final authority to specify tests and open cases if they decide. They can opt not to open cases too. (see Chris Horner, Rasmussen, Armstrong, more) They opened a case on Landis despite him having below-positive scores too.

The takeaway here can be nicely summarized by Verbruggen's threat posted a while ago. The anti-doping authority can make any rider test positive. Alternatively, they can not open cases on positives, run tests for drugs cyclists would never take, and proclaim the cleanest peloton ever.

Thanks to JV1973, we know ASO is involved in rider selection for WT events. So, maybe ASO didn't want Roman riding? Maybe someone at the UCI cleared paperwork off their desk before going on holiday? This is the same UCI that found some positives in a desk of a worker that was no longer with the UCI. The same UCI that has slow-walked a couple of cases to oblivion. (JTL being the latest) Lots of maybes.

I am so happy about the timing. Puts you Contador fan boys in your place.

Oh, I see, you would rather put us Contador fanboys in our places rather than seeing a fair race at the TDF, that now favours the Froome fanboys. Until some specific allegations are made by the UCI as in making a formal allegation, we are all just speculating about Kreuziger's guilt or innocence. All we know is there is a "possibility" of some abnormal BP readings dating back to 2011-2012.

To prevent the POSSIBILITY of Contador winning another tainted Tour Tinkoff does the right thing to eliminate the media firestorm, by pulling Kreuziger. This should put to rest the debate over how seriously Riis takes doping issues, as opposed to the nutcases on here who think because he is a former doper he implicitly encourages doping.

Since Kreuziger can technically ride the TDF, how is this fair to Contador? Or do you get off in revelling in Contador's plight.

The lack of due process by the UCI, their delay in keeping Kreuziger informed about the progress of their investigation and the timing of this announcement stinks.

Froome and Brailsford are licking their chops.

Where is your evidence? Even the Cycling News article states, "Currently there has been no statement from the UCI or CADF."

So how can you say "apparently Kreuziger's blood values indicate he was doping" You are just another Clinic speculator who makes specious conclusions based on gossip.

How quaint.

I'm sure you would have been equally understanding and complimentary of the DS's ethics had it been Sky afflicted with a Tour rider with a dodgy passport.

Yeah. I would have. We don't know Kreuziger has a "dodgy passport" simply the vague and ambiguous suggestion by the UCI his BP showed some "abnormalities" bereft of any detail.

Apparently we also have conflicting expert reports that his BP does not have any abnormalities. If anything is dodgy is how the UCI is handling this case!

Quaint? - a dodgy use of an adjective n'est pas!

Kreuziger blood values were suspicious in 2011 and 2012, more than one and a half year ago. They decided press charges now, just one week before the Tour, just now that Contador has regained his form of old and Froome looks vulnerable. It's either corrupt or incredibly lazy from the UCI.

I think the UCI is a bigger problem for the sport than doping itself

Remember Verdruggen's golden rule of "I can make anyone positive".

It's basically the same way Putin operates the oligarchs in Russia - they are all guilty for the way they raised their fortune, so if anyone disobeys, it's just enough to launch an investigation, and they will be rightfully and truthfully put into jail. And since Khodorkovsky they know it's real.

The same way the UCI knows the peloton is doped to the gills and it's just up to their decision who will be thrown under the bus this time. Plain and simple. Now as far as I can remember, Oleg T. was even daring to think about a breakaway league... the worst possible crime in the eyes of UCI/ASO/etc. mafia.

It was the least suspicious Kreuziger that got popped though. The 2 years of Kreuziger's career one might say weren't suspicious were 2011-12.

It would be like if Contador got popped in 2010 or one of the Schlecks got popped in 2012 or something.

I get it! The UCI is conspiring to make its premier event boring and non competitive! One more example of nefarious conspiracy and influence.
