I hope the best is yet to come with outing mcquaid and company, but on the basis that every other rider implicated has "done the right thing" only because of a self serving deal, it is probably necessary to offer that to Lance in order to give him reason to dish dirt. They cannot threaten him with more sanction, only offer a carrot not stick. So Tygart needs to reduce the penalty If he wants LA to speak out.

To whoever implied lifetime cheat Hincapies crimes were nothing allowing Tygart to pemit him to ride TdF you are wrong. A lifetime of doping and conspiracy must be sanctioned. As a lifetime doper he got less than Bassons for an accidental admin error on dropping out of a single race. That cannot be right. Even if given 6 months ( and by the way he too supplied dope to others so 6 is questionable ) He should have been suspended. Travis plays favourites, no doubt about it.

To chewbacca - I do not need to sing Tygarts praises everyone else here overdoes it.. I provide balance to the sycophant mob, He has made errors that should be criticised. If you all attacked him, I would defend him.

It is interesting how the proposals for Tygarts promoted truth and reconciliation are allowing for the fact that some face jurisdiction criminal sanction so all agree the confessions need careful and confidential handling to reduce exposures to national law. But whilst accepting that in principle he rode roughshod over the very same issue in practice in LA case. it needed far better diplomacy and far more time than his bull in a china shop methods if he really wanted LA on board the solution. in my opinion he did not try and wasted a big opportunity.

To Bennoti - any credibilty you may have had vanished in that baseless attack on Nicole Cooke.

I already knew you had no moral compass, you didn't need to confirm that.

Oprah tweeted "He came READY!" If you're 'coming clean', why would you need to be ready for anything? You could simply show up and answer questions truthfully. The emotional visit to Livestrong, having ten or so of his 'handlers' there with him, this whole thing stinks.

I'd be impressed if he let Walsh or Kimmage interview him. That would show a willingness to be transparent. Now it looks like he might try to piggyback the qui tam as well. Easiest way to earn a little money, I guess. Self-serving right to the end. I like to think that everyone deserves a chance to redeem themselves, but I don't know about this one. He's done too much bad to too many people.

What most people don't like is not the money that O.W. makes off it. It's the fact that she provides a soft landing to the most despicable liar, bully and outright criminal psychopath of the last two decades.

Lance is not getting a soft landing at all and even if he was, it is not Oprah that is providing it. Oprah, it seems, has asked many tough questions of Lance. We can only judge that if she has given him a soft landing after the interview. Even if she does, she has still been the only interviewer who has drawn the truth out of Armstrong, which is a big feat.

the problem has not even been adequately defined.

you cant solve the problem, before it is defined.

Learn to let it go. The sport is not going to get any better until the IOC takes anti-doping seriously. That's not happening.

you aren't really getting my point, yes, i understand what you are saying, but please follow me, they are saying hey it's just cycling, as if to say the sports they love, football, baseball, baketball are somehow superior by virtue of their clean athletes and cycling is a cesspool which is outrageous to me. If you don't like cycling, believe me I am OK with it, I suffer no delusions, if it could have 1/4th the fans and media exposure of tennis it would be a gigantic coup here in the US, but to say it is a cesspool and by implication imply that football, baseball, etc are not is just as ignorant as the kool aid drinking lance fan mountainmen.

They don't need to falsify a hypocritical reason to base their dislike of cycling such as PED's. They aren't giving cycling a chance. Fine. I get that. I am not giving hockey a chance. It's my choice, there's only so much time in the day. I don't run around screaming that I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out to expose my ignorance.

Wonder how much Oprah had to pay for the interview?
Or would that be a "donation" to Livestrong?

Even if she did pay for the interview, I don't really care. At least the questions that should be asked, will be asked and the truth will emerge.

There's that word again. "Truth".

Whatever that means

Exactly, Lance has to tell the truth. Oprah can not make Lance tell the truth, but she can ask questions that draw out the truth.

All I know is that I'm going to kick back with some Michelob light and watch Oprah on Thursday

It was interesting the way she described the 'confession'..
she and team were "surprised, mesmerized, riveted".."not what she expected"

Also, the contrition thing...she hesitated when asked..then said she was "satisfied" with the answers...
and we can "judge for ourselves"...

a lot of room there for what really was said...

well now she is just tantalizing anyone who is watching her interviews to try and bait them to try and figure out if her channel is on their cable system and where the heck it is.

Lance likes to try and hide behind the nfl, the Novitzky case got dropped right before the superbowl, what a coincidence that this interview is occurring while sportsfans are riveted to the nfl playoffs, sadly for him, this is a monster news story that was the lead on entertainment shows like entertainment tonight, etc. The nfl is way too small a fig leaf to try and hide something like this behind. He chose to live above and outside the sporting world and now he pays the price for that. A victim of his own excess.

I watched some entertainment show (sorry, I can't tell them apart) trot out a doctor who said it is likely that his drug use contributed to his testicular cancer. WOW!!!

Well, we're getting the hype here in Oz big time .. And just in time to save her flagging OWN network..
"Winfrey told US network CBS this week the Armstrong interview is "the biggest interview I've ever done in terms of its exposure. This is big for my career."

Jon Stewart just had a go at Lance. The piece had this golden nugget: Lance was taking "lie enhancing drugs."

At least you're self-aware.

Look, the fact that you took such great pains to characterize yourself as independent nearly admits that you're not. We've seen your type (or, you specifically) before.

I also like it when MMan/BPC asks the forum "What am I" as if we're asking for his opinion.

MM is lost in denial somewhere between Childhood fantasy and having Stockholm syndrome.

Tygart is not the problem, so far he has administered a just and clear mandate and hopefully he will continue to do so without leniency.

I wonder what drugs Lance took him to prepare for the interview.

Cocaine or amphetamines might make him appear more confident. Beta blockers would control his pulse rate.

Oprah stressed he was WELL PREPARED. Everyone in cycling knows this refers to a well-administered drug programme to boost performance.

I shall ignore the flame - but if you actually took the trouble to read what I write you would know that my biggest criticism of the sanctions.was over leniency to such as Hincapie - not over harsh.

I fail to understand why you all seem to support such a serial lifetime conspiring cheat, who came clean when already caught just to save his own skin, and why you and Tygart allow them the Nazi defence which has never been allowed in criminal law ie "diminished responsibility because the boss told me too and the boss is nasty". As many clean riders have pointed out, they made their own choices. They could have walked away, but chose to live a life of luxury as part of the conspiracy scam. Read Nicole Cookes retirement statement to see how that looks to a clean rider.

For all that a ratio of sentence of 20-1 for LA to GH is hopelessly out of proportion too. GH was clearly supplying drugs on occasion too. If LA manages to out the corrupt moneymen and corruption in UCI he deserves reduction to a couple if years too. I am for equity not vengeance.

As regards GH Why do you all like dopers so much? Just because they rat on their mates when cornered?

As for the one who said Hincapie was allowed to ride TdF to disguise the fact he had ratted. Totally wrong. He had already been told to withdraw from olympics. So it was not a secret. They could have and should have stopped him parading his cheating at he TdF by ordering him to withdraw from it, and failing his withdrawing quietly, they should have publicly done a Rasmussen on him, Tygart In person is responsible for allowing him, to ride, mocking clean riders in the process
Tygart makes mistakes. There is one.

As regards the interview a lot are now saying "split into two"

But In the UK we have seemingly one programme at 2am GMT lasting 1.25 repeated on thursday and friday night?

I pity Luke Armstrong now. His life will be made sheer hell by all this - other kids will bully him senseless.

Brad Wiggins is right when he says in "my time" - I will never dope because I do not want to have to explain to my kids that it was all an illusion based on doping one day.

<snipped rest of BS>

Why do you attack the man who brought the biggest, doper, fraud, bully, cheat, chicken, coward to boot?

Your posting cannot hide your true intent.

Get up to date. Armstrong admitted he doped. Tygart was proven right.

For those of us fortunate  enough to have access to the OWN maybe we should watch tonight's new documentary so that we can learn to understand?

Show at 9:30 Easten.....

In a healthy environment, it would depend on their ages. It would depend on how it affects them in their daily lives anyway. I have serious doubts he's around to be a parent, or act like a mature one when he appears.
