Donate to a poorly run charity, surely you jest? Hopefully, Contador will take that portion and donate it to a worthy charity.

From a phycolological point of view I think it is near impossible for Contador to place himself in a worse team situation than Astana (he himself said that he had to win 2 TdF this year, one on the road and one outside). All he has to do is find a team with decent TTT skills and he is good to go.

Sorry the translations bad. but Lance ordered the cars away from the hotel and Berti had to call his brother for a ride? anyone hear this?

"A history of solitude. It happened on Thursday, hours before the time trial in Annecy. Counter declined to lobby Menthon Palace, the luxurious hotel in Astana. . The Tour was still in play. Looked to the right, left. Nobody, nothing. Neither cars nor auxiliary. Cold sweat. Look at the clock. Pero, But where are they? The hotel is several kilometers from the exit. YAnd the leader of the Tour, in flip flops, bag in hand and alone. Then came the 'hall', and sought an answer and found: Armstrong had ordered aides to go pick up his wife, his children and his friends to the airport."

Why is it that people like you can't just say that Armstrong rode a really great tour, competed well against guys 10+ years his junior and at the end of the day accepted his third place with grace. In doing so he smoked Cadel, Sastre and Menchov and showed he is still one of the top five best stage racers in the world. Why do you and others like you always have to slag riders off. LA showed today he is up with the best. He was stronger than Frank Schleck. Andy and AC were obviously a class above everyone else and could have ridden away if they chose but they chose to play the team game and support their respective podium hopes, thats what team cycling is all about.

Hey genius, look at the title of the thread, it is about Armstrong's tweet, not about how well or badly he rode the Tour. It is about his tweets and related media blitz against Contador. Why is it that people like you can't stick to the subject?

I think everyone would be surprised if LA & AC were at the same party.

And if tomorrow morning we saw a photo in some French tabloid of LA & AC arm in arm swiling a bottle of 'Buckfast', taking a pee under the Arc de Triomphe we would probably say it was staged.

This is the main reason I don't pay LA much mind. That is the only thing he does, the Tour de France. Yes, he is the world's greatest TdF rider. Yes, he's a great GT and stage racer. But that's it. Very focused and somewhat one dimensional rider, in my view.

"A Tale of solitude. It happened on Thursday, a few hours before the Annecy ITT. Contador came downstairs to the entrance of the Palace of Menthon, the luxurious Astana hotel. The Tour was on. He looked right, then left. Nobody, nothing. No Astana cars or helpers. Cold sweat. Quick time check. Where are they? The hotel is several kilometers from the start. There he was, the leader of the Tour, in flip-flops, bag in hand and alone. He went to the hall looking for an answer: Armstrong had ordered the helpers to go pick up his wife, kids and friends to the airport.
Contador left his room last because he was the last one starting the ITT. Armstrong had managed to take away his means of transportation. The straw that broke the camel's back. Hot flashes, he was rabid. He called his brother Fran. He came to pick him up by car and took him to Annecy in a private vehicle. He left last and finished first. His best victory. In the ITT. In solitude. The same way he has won his second tour."

Sounds like he was late for lift off. Probably in his own room somewhere in the luxury suite running on Contador time. This sounds more like Home Alone 4.

I know, just being stupid. No one knows if he missed the team party. I havent seen anything about it. I doubt he did. Maybe just didnt stay as long as usual. Wont know until some ahole journalist makes a big deal out of it.

Armstrong said it himself ti Andreau on Versus. He was talking with Radioshack instead. Not sure of a print version, sorry.

Funny you mentioned the luxury suite...

Contador's toughest climb was not recorded in images. It was narrated by others. It was fought in the hotel and the bus: during one stage, Armstrong sat his guests at the very back of the bus, right in Contador's usual seat. One more provocation. Armstrong to the luxury suite. Contador to sleep with Paulinho, the only ally. Same deal during the entire tour. Mouth shut, listening to Armstrong's jabs: "It doesn't take a Nobel price to figure out what happens with side winds". Contador didn't reply in the hotel. He did on the road. He attacked in the first mountain finish in Arcalis. Without permission from Bruyneel, Armstrong's DS. That night the Astana hotel was a funeral. Red eyes from the Texan (anger? crying? not sure). The first cyclist that stood up to him. And he did it in silence.

Watch out, there is a tough Internet Guy right there ;)

This story is ******** if you ask me. Spanish Media are not too trustful and impartial, especially when there is a Spanish athlete concerned.

I would have thought all these guys would have been used to it by now but everytime LA does something, these guys get their panties in a wad. It is entertaining though.
