Nice to see Kelderman perform strongly again. From the report on the Rabobank team website it sounds like he put on quite the number. Attacking on the final climb, 2.5kms long with a few 10%+ ramps) and riding hard all the way to the top, and only Rasmussen and Willman were able to hang on. Then young Wilco was the main motor in driving the lead to the finish, maintain the slender lead to the bunch.

Kelderman will be a very, very, welcome addition to the Rabo pro team next year.

Lindgren won Stage 3, with a small gap (must have attacked late) from a group of 20 or so.

I assume he'll ride tour de l'avenir this year. Should be a favorite there.

The Tour of Norway is something that looks like a really good idea. They have climbs and beautiful scenery. I'm glad to see it being done properly. I would have loved to see a grand finale climbing up to Holmenkollen or Winterpark Tryvann though (maybe a circuit climbing up Holmenkollveien and Voksenkollveien).

Thor Hushovd snags up his first victory of the season at Ronde d'Aix:

Only one day after a disappointing Milan - San Remo, Thor Hushovd saved Garmin-Cervélo's weekend by getting his first victory of the season, competing in the Ronde d'Aix alongside team mate David Millar. Other noteworthy participants included: Romain Feillu, Philippe Gilbert and Jussi Veikanen, Rinaldo Nocentini, Rémi Pauriol and Yauheni Hutarovich, Rémy DiGregorio, Geoffroy Lequatre and Yaroslav Popovych, Leonardo Duque and Julien El Fares, Laurent Mangel, Julien Antomarchi.

Especially Rémy DiGregorio (who was awarded the most combattive rider award) and David Millar were very active during the race. Philippe Gilbert put in a powerful attack with roughly 2 km to go, but was brought back by the chase group which included Hushovd, Pauriol and Hutarovich. Hushovd was the first to start his sprint and could hold off Hutarovich to the line.


The race was up and down the same street (Avenue des Belges), with a large roundabout on each end. This made it really easy to watch the race, and not miss any of the action. I know these races are decided from the beginning, but this one seemed pretty real ... if it was all staged, then chapeau because the riders put in a good show!

Today's probably the toughest stage of the Tour of Norway, finishing in Hamar after 194km, with the climb of Gåsbu occurring just under 20km from the finishing line. This looks like a tricky one, with a climb then a gradual flat descent before Gåsbu, then a long descent to the line.

Angelo Furlán (Christina Watches) and René Mandri (Endura Racing) are 3 minutes ahead of the bunch with 45km to go, just hitting that penultimate climb.

Michael Rasmussen has just attacked the péloton, which has been reduced to roughly 30 riders as the road turns uphill.

He's being chased by Remme (Joker-Merida) & Aasvold (Plussbank-Cervélo).

I'm really hoping Rasmussen wins. This year has totally rejuvenated his career and a tour win would do him wonders.

Tomorrow's stage will be televised, but nothing until then. They're hoping to go 2.1 next year. I like that idea. The scenery is beautiful and the race is well-organised.

Furlan and Mandri lost a lot of time on that brief uphill, unsurprising considering Furlan climbs worse than Napolitano.

On the climb now, the leading duo have 35" on the chasing duo of Remme and Aasvold. Rasmussen is back in the main péloton, who are making Kelderman do all the work to defend the jersey.

The groups have all come back together at the lower part of the climb, but now ex-Quick Step man Thomas Vedel Kvist, now with Glud en Marstrand-LRØ Radgivning is taking a solo flyer. Joker-Merida now pushing the pace at the front, presumably for Christer Rake or Vegard Robinson Bugge. Péloton's shrunk to 17.
