Kelderman has gone on the attack, with Frederik Wilmann of Joker-Merida in his tracks. They're being chased down by Daniel Holm Foder (Glud en Marstrand), and a little further back by Bjørn Tore Hoem (Plussbank-Cervélo).

Trying to work out where I know Frederik Wilmann's name from.

Ex pro at Skil Shimano, they released him because he didn't fit in the team (or something).

Ah, bingo. The confusing release story could be it, cos I knew who he was as soon as he was mentioned, which isn't often the case with the Scandinavian continental teams for me, I'm afraid. Keep an eye out for the Norwegians more than the others, though. Too much of their area is flat ;)

Kelderman's been isolated and 4 Joker-Merida guys trying to break him, but with only 2km left it looks like Wilco is in position to hold on to the jersey.

can't wait to see what he does in the 1st team next year.
Think he will be somewhat quiet, but he is a hell of a talent.

Him and Slagter to the giro next year :)

Chicken attacked on the main climb yesterday but was pulled back. He really needs them to either use some less populated areas with more climbs (but they need to establish the race first).

If they're intent on staying near urban centres they could do worse than putting a climb up to Holmenkollveien (ca 5,3km @ 5,3%) on a circuit, or a finish to Vinterpark Tryvann on the same route (7,0km @ 5,7%). Not exactly supersteep or superhard, but enough to break things apart and give him a platform to attack. Not to mention that it's just outside Oslo! The biggest problem would be the roads there, since unless they use the back road up (which is less steep) they may face opposition given that the Holmenkollen ski jump is one of Norway's biggest tourist attractions.

Kelderman is more of a climber than a hilly rider as well, so I don't think it would have made much of a difference.

Chicken hung on for dear life in the stage Kelderman took the jersey, and could never threaten him.
Chicken is nowhere near his old level.

Never said that he was. But he was looking to attack to win, and he needs the uphills to do it. Maybe his attacks would fail miserably, Kelderman is strong. But maybe he could have got up to 2nd or 3rd. Maybe not.

The Tour of Norway looks well organised, the field is decent, their ambition is not excessive (they want to become 2.1 for next year or 2013) and realistic, and the scenery is wonderful. Maybe once they've got a decent foundation they can make the race a bit harder.

Quote Kelderman: "Early in this Tour I found out that only Wilmann and Rasmussen could follow uphill. Today I was just riding pace to prevent attacks and suddenly I looked back and nobody was there, not even Rasmussen and Wilmann could follow."

And also "I'm waiting for some real cols. The Tour of Norway is nice but the hills don't go past 500 meters in height. The real mountains are my terrain. I hope to ride the Tour l'Ain"
