Tom Dumoulin is definately the most suprising Dutch winner in at least 10 years in a cycling race there. If you told me he was going to beat Oliveira in the TT and take the overall, I was probably going to laugh at you.

Really nice, the Dutch selection had no Rabo Continental riders in it and people said they would be lost and do nothing here. But Dumoulin won the whole thing and the other Dutchies didn't do bad either. Suprising. Good scouting by Vierhouten (national coach there)

I ever liked him as a rider and it's nice to see him back winning against some good riders like Dirk Muller/Radocla.

He has a french surname.....BURN HIM!!!

On a serious note: Never heard of this guy before
Notice, however, that Oliveira isn't some sort of TT god. He's good, but he "just" had a great day at the Worlds.

Tom Dumoulin... did he have any noteworthy results before? I've never heard of him.
No, since he is a club rider and never rode any big races. That's why this is a huge suprise, it's his 2nd year as espoir and he is only 19.
Really comes from club level to win against some of the best u23 riders, real suprising,

And I never called Oliveira a TT god, but being 2nd in the worlds itt does account for something.

I was following this race specifically watching for the American Ben King..who showed well by the way. Dumoulin really surprised me too...not much about him available. Pretty young...strong...good future?? What are the Dutch expectations for him?

Nobody knew him until this, so there are/were no expectations
Last year he was still a 1st year espoir and clubrider. Now he is riding for Parkhotel, which is what PPL Bellisol was last year (team of Rob Ruygh before Vacansoleil)

Paco Mancebo (Rock Racing) punches stage 1 la Volcat Ara Lleida

02/04/2010 | The Ara Lleida VOLCAT with 200 corredores has already begun today. With a stage between Solsona and Guissona, and with more than two hours of race, Francisco Mancebo has been imposed on the rest of his rivals after an attack that Paco launched mid-race.

As says the winner of the stage," Nobody followed me and I opted to go ahead alone. Still, I have been quite conservative, suffering for mechanics. "

A chase group finished behind the Rock, the Norwegian Hovdenes, Joan Llordella, Adolfo Garcia and Juan Pedro Trujillo.

Tomorrow, riders will face the longest stage of the VOLCAT Ara Lleida, with a stage day between Guissona and Àger, with a lot of it uphill.

Another win for Bbox - cool! They've been on fire this week, with wins for Fedrigo, Chainel, Turgot and now Gautier. Five wins in a week - I wonder if that has ever happened before? And nice to see Cyril Gautier win - he was quite good in Paris-Nice and Criterium International, too. Just 22 years old. Looking great for the upcoming Frenchies.

Nice to see Vastaranta back, too. Hopefully his Greek team will get some decent race invitations here and there. I don't expect him to change the cycling world or anything, but he's just too talented to have it all end so soon. Hopefully, his health is now back on track.
