Interesting that one of the three guys in the break is Alpecin's Rickart. Groenenwegen should win this, but I see QS Devo team has a certain Tim Merlier ... shneaky!
2 guys chasing the break now- Team Flanders & Bingoal dangling out the front of the peloton.

It's race that Merlier is riding for the Development Team - The UCI has to change this rule. And they also included Van lan Berghe - It's a farce!

They could also have added one more rider from the WT team and started as the WT team with the three development team riders starting under the sister rule of the one that makes today’s arrangement possible - compare to how Jumbo started with 3 WT riders + 3 DT riders in Coppi e Bartali this year. The difference between the two is academic.

Omloop van het Houtland - 2 guys up the road now- Rickart (Alpecin) & Stockman (TDT Unibet)
Unibet being a sports betting company is probably doing some re-thinking because of Belgium's new laws see -

"From July 1, 2023, restrictions have prevented gambling companies from appearing in the name of professional sports teams and also from advertising on TV and radio. Logos of such companies featured on sports team jerseys will be restricted in size from 2025, and from 2028 a total ban on gambling advertising will come into force."

Or QS could have sent Merlier to the Vuelta.

it's a Dutch team, so they normally won't face the same restrictions for the moment. But it could turn into a problem if they are not allowed to compete in Belgium, of course.

edit: as I just read, there's some new law in the Netherlands as well, though, which prohibits gambling companies to sponsor teams on from 2025.

Thijssens explains himself how it went at Omloop het van Houtland
https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling...n-thijssen-i-had-a-lot-of-doubts-about-myself
""I had a lot of doubts about myself after the corona infection prior to the Vuelta a Espana. I lost my motivation for a week. Then it was time to start training hard again with the aim of winning one of the autumn races," Thijssen said following a race. "First of all, it was good for me that I was in the first group. To be able to finish it in the sprint, thanks to a super good lead-out from Arne [Marit]. That is really textbook."
...
Yesterday he succeeded, beating Groenewegen and Cedric Beulleuns in a fast sprint. “I knew that you had to be right at the front at the last hairpin bend. I was perfectly in line with the DSM men, but five hundred meters from the finish I was actually a bit boxed in," he tells.

But then, he managed to raise his arms in glory for the first time - in a UCI race - since the Ronde van Limburg back in May. "Then Arne came from behind and shouted 'Come on, G'. I followed his slipstream and he did a great job of pushing me off. I also started celebrating it too early. I still had to jump, but I was confident. I felt I was going to win, but it didn't matter.”
