yeah, not sure about the exact reasons, but apparently it resulted in neither the UCI nor the Italian Federation sending any commissaires to the race, and without those, you obviously can't start.

At least in was cancelled before the race started, so it didn't end up in neither a Trofeo Ponente in Rosa nor a Tour Féminin des Pyrénées like situation.

Tuttobiciweb reports that mistakes were made from the side of the race organizers.
What this means exactly is said to be problems with traffic technical guidance and the absence of an UCI jury. There were no TV rights agreed on for the race and it is possible that there was an internal clash regarding the UCI and the Italian Cycling Federation. Moreno Argentin, race director, confirmed now with hours to go that the rumour of a possible cancellation had been confirmed.
(It's Italy, these things happen!)

The UCI has nothing to do with this case (not they actually know how to do their job), all the political bullshittery was between the FCI and the other parties involved.

Circuit Franco Belge takes place today (live on Eurosport etc), and compared to the past years, on a much harder parcours. The race finishes with with five laps on this circuit:

five times up Trieu should normally take its toll, and the finish are the first 1.3k of the Kluisberg:

82nd circuit Franco-Belge (1.Pro) - 190 km - uphill finish, so is it time that De Lie beats Philipsen? Or Coquard has some good legs.

it will come down to how it's raced, of course, but on paper this parcours looks too hard for a sprint to me.

Simon Yates looking cracked in Coppa Agostoni bridging that and has Harper up front riding well with Formolo, Barguil and Lafay so he can sit on, love his race but it looks like it's being filmed from outer space.
