Thanks!
He wasn't far behind VDP and Wout last year. I don't think this victory changes anything in that regard. Awesome victory nonetheless! That was something else from Mads! I thought Zingle would win and make Visma be the only WorldTeam without a win, but apparently Mads is now on the level of Mathieu and Wout.

first stage of Pays de la Loire maybe against Zingle but also Vauquelin, Pinot, Cosnefroy and some othersMaybe not in the 260 km races (actually, I do think he was quite far behind Mathieu there) but in small races like this, I don't recall him ever having put in a performance anything near what he did today. You have to be really confident to ride like he did, it was like seeing Sagan toy with GVA and Gilbert in BP13 (those names were admittedly more fearsome than Mads' adversaries today).
It was that kind of weather yesterday. Can only imagine what gets sprayed up from the road in a stage like that. What the heck happened (in Provence) this morning with so many DNS? and DNF? Riley Sheehan was handily placed on GC. Illness?
They misjudged that finish a bit, slight uphill drag favoured Van Asbroeck who waited until the last moment
Edit: headwind too I believe
Sam Bennett is a thief. He is still stealing money.
