Toon Vandebosch with the new fastest time. The CX riders usually dominates this one.

Pernsteiner hasn't had the best of starts. We'll see if Zoidl can do better.

So, according to PCS, Del Grosso also leads the KOM. Which, as far as I'm aware, would indicate that there was indeed KOM points being handed out, and...

Pathetic, nobody finished under the 1 minute benchmark
Del Grosso's time is the new record though. Nobody's been under one minute in the five years they've had this opener.

Daan Soete has now podiumed this stage four years in a row (two wins). Lander Loockx could have done the same, but he only achieved a 7th yesterday.

Yeah, that was quite remarkable. The other teams were just too slow in the final kilometer, it should not be possible to gain that much ground in 200 metres that late.
Yes, it was almost like the first Alpecin rider pulling off to the right was a decoy, and everyone else hesitated waiting to see what would happen, which was the real Alpecin train coming from the left. I'm probably reading too much in to it :)

Finish was into a headwind. It does happen as Jayco were a long way back going into the last kilometre of stage one in Slovenia.
