I doubt it, Merlier and Ewan are too strong for Cav to sweep the sprints like this. But if he takes even one it would be fantastic imo.

Wow, didn't expect that, this is turning into quite a year for Cav. From quietly winding down his career to DQS sprinter at the Tour. Hope the rollercoaster has a couple of highs still to come.

I think that depends entirely on 2 things:

1. Ewan.
If he performs at his top level, Cavendish has no chance IMO.

2. WvA
If he gets to sprint all the bunch sprints, he is probably also faster than Cav.

However the rest, incl. the "non-sprinters like MvdP and Mads P, I think Cavendish can very well beat, if he is in his best shape, and DQ gives him the usual perfect lead out, with Asgreen, Ballerini and Moerkoev.

Remember the interview last year? Where Cav jumped into the break and was crying afterwards because it might have been his last day as a pro racer?

I'm riding this rollercoaster as far as it will go, because boy o boy has this been a wonderfull storyline already. Even if he doesn't get a stage it is still going to be great.

Crazy that Cav this year will be similar to one of his idols/rival Petacchi in the 2010 Tour. Both returning after facing adversity and at the old age of 36 when they’re considered well past it.

Van Aert has won three TdF stages in bunch sprints, Van der Poel has never won a bunch sprint on the WorldTour, so I think that is an extraordinarily reasonable opinion.

In a head to head duel like in Flanders, they are fatigued and acceleration plays a bigger role so you can't use that to compare.
