How so? On TV it didnt look very serious, he just elegantly landed while in a roll, and this roll lessens the impact by a lot. And that was before I heard his interviews. In retrospect, it is possible his ankle clipped the barrier.

And come on man, you can't blame this crash on anyone other than Quintana. It always sucks seeing the rider crash, it sucks even more if its not because of his own doing, but thats not the case here.
it was his stupid fault, everybody know that, but says he is fine, just a road rash.thats beyond ridiculous

Thats how it appeared. Rolling after a crash rather than landing flat on the back helps a lot. I have been in crashes like that (doing quite a bit of MTB) and know how keeping a momentum by rolling helps.

Again, that was before his interviews, just from looking at the crash alone, and it didnt look like causing much damage

I call BS. He took completely the wrong line, slammed on, sat himself up and crash. He completely misses the apex and at one point it looks like he locks up his rear wheel. His brakes look to be working fine.

maybe he thought the corner was not such a sharp bend.
In the .gif posted just above you can see the angle from behind and it is a blind corner with an obstructed view. As he rounds it, the bend just keeps going. He looked pretty relaxed after adjusting his shoe, peadling backward and setting up his line.
Once the road kept turning he realized he had too much speed??

This is the most accurate description of the accident.

Was your source ITV? Their highlights program translated it in the same way too, and it seemed to be fairly clear and detailed, for something that's mistaken. It said something like:

I had a brake failure. I didn't know this until I arrived at the corner, and then I found that they didn't work.

If someone mistranslated that for TV then that's quite a mistake to make.

I have to say my wife and I both looked at each other like, "Yeah, right," simply because it seems a bit coincidental that it happened at the same corner he'd just completely ballsed up the entry to, so it would make sense anyway, plus make him look less like he's telling porkie pies.

Most stupid thing ive seen a rider do what he done. Adjusting is shoe before a sharp bend talk about brain fade. I wish him well in his recovery though. GT's 2015 will be better than this crappy year.

The crash happened yesterday in the TT. Bike went into the railing and he flipped over the handlebars. Looked pretty bad.
