I thought that the dutch race was in the afternoon.

Came home from a ride and saw that Van der Poel was on the front in the last k's, got my hopes up. Sad for him but he will have plenty of chances and with a more favourable parcours.

The course today would be fun with 4bft or more, but today it's 2bft and even then the peloton was reduced by riding hard along the coastline.

The race was early because they wanted television footage and with football eurochampionship in mind they raced early. Too make it worse they reduced the kms to 200km else it would conflicht with the EC.

Glad Dylan won, we'll get to see the jersey prominently in the Tour now.
Hmmm... I am trying to imagine those precious moments in the Tour in which Dylan would be likely to occupy some prominent position on the screen... oh well, but you are right that this is better than if some conti guy won it.

Also worth noting that this is Rabo/Blanco/Belkin/LottoNL's first Dutch RR title since 2009 - not easy to win these Dutch nationals!

Great, another year of no Spanish national jersey in the peloton.

Who the hell is the guy that finished 8th?
You don't know Ventoso?

PCS has some guy called Garcia de Mateos listed as eight  I should probably start looking for antoher source
Vicente García de Mateos was 6th. He's been riding for Loulé in Portugal for three years now. In fact he was 6th last year. Just behind Cesc Zurita, who's a much more reasonable guy to ask "who the hell is that?" about.

In France, poor Elise Delzenne was leading solo with 25km to go when she had two consecutive mechanicals, the first dropping her behind poursuivant Marjolaine Bazin and into the chase group led by three Futuroscope riders, and subsequently from that group into the bunch.

I'm sorry It wasn't Garcia de mateos who finished eight according to PCS but 52yr old Francisco José Garcia. Is that correct (I would be surprised if it were)

Edit: other source puts Herrada in eight, I'll asume they are correct.

Sometimes CQ/PCS just puts the wrong name in places, normally it's something to do with similarity of names, Luis Leon the Puerto Rican being in 9th instead of Luis Leon Sanchez also CQ had Bryan Alaphilippe finishing 6th in the Dauphine for a bit as examples.

RFEC's official stats have Ventoso in 8th, with Vicente García de Mateos in 6th:

1 Rojas
2 Vicioso
3 Jordi Simón
4 Valverde
5 Jesús Herrada
6 Vicente García de Mateos
7 Carlos Barbero
8 Ventoso
9 Luísle
10 Madrazo

Suspect it's either a hurried link of the wrong person's profile (like you sometimes see on CQ as well - Fleur points out above they put a Puerto Rican cyclist with a similar name in the place occupied by Luís León Sánchez before correcting it) or a confusion with the "elite sin contrato" standings, because those take place as part of the same race (and for bonus confusion, were won by Jorge Martín Montenegro, who is Argentine and whose race licence status has been a bone of contention for some time as sometimes he races under Spanish licence, but he has not been included in the official standings of the race).
