I liked "finally". It made the headline tell the whole story.

"Finally" sounds like they tested and re-tested and re-tested until the got the result they wanted. "Ultimately" sounds like in the end, after testing, they were positive.

According to my understanding this was the first time this particular blood or urine sample was actually tested? They presumably tested for multiple substances at once but this was in fact the first time it was tested.

To me, "finally" just sounds like "We all knew they had tons of dope in them, and finally someone bothered to test them and make sure". But I agree that's not how it'd come across to most casual fans.

People need to relax...

I can be pretty sure if it was a positive test - it is a positive in the same sense as the 1999 tdf epo positives from the l'equippe affair. That is. A corroborative
evidence...i also don't think it was a cera positive...

I am also rather sure, if the rumour is true, it was NOT a blood test.

He found it tough in 2003 though. That's one of the years I was there on the roadside (as a misled fanboy)

He looked haggard and sunken eyed on the Col de Ramaz which was the first major climb.

Some experimental protocol?
I believe 2003 was the year L.A. lost almost 3 minutes to Ullrich in the ITT.
He was frothing so badly from the mouth it appeared he had rabies.
New drugs,or O.D. on an overdose of E.P.O.?

If these samples are positive, I hate to say it, but nothing will happen. Lance is going to deflect and explain away the positives, and nobody is going to care.

It's happened before, and I don't see why anything would change.

He'll say "they tested and tested and tested until they go the results they were looking for".
He'll say he has "no idea how those sample were handled. He'll say they could have been contaminated.

And all of his fans will believe every single word.

I'm sure he's lost around 6 hundred thousand followers on twitter in the last week.

Lost in translation.

GotDropped said:
The have changed the line in the CN article from "finally came back positive" to "ultimately came back positive". Must be a translation thing.

Yup.

I haven't heard or seen this comment in the original French but the French word "enfin" often translate sappropriately to "finally" but the more literal translation is actually to "in the end". "Ultimately tested positive" seems more likely.

Shows he is paying attention. the narrative was that he is shutting hisself away, and doesnt care what happens.

I'd say he is reading every single word and spending half the day in here no less.

I heard it was from a bad blood bag, and he was sick that day.

Some have said it was dehydration because Armstrong never did well in the heat, but he rode in hot conditions before and never got laid out in that fashion during his Tour reign and certainly never looked that bad.

Alas there's one way around all those excuses.

That is what Lance wants it to come across as...

I don't think you understood what I was getting at as I was referring to the posible reason for changing the wording in the article and not what was actually done.

In the story

Lots of talk about being protected by the UCI. Talk about the 20 minute wait by the tester by the unannounced test in France. Brunyeel said something about checking the guy if I remember correctly.

Talk about 2005 and French Paris police ready to raid Discovery team but raid called off.

Thanks! The segment was very interesting. So interesting that I almost forgot I don't know french.:D

Right now I wish I had chosen French in school instead of German.

I thought that was what you meant but I was wondering if that was the method they followed. I was thinking of the counter to any Armstrong fanboys eventually making that point.

enfin - finally
finalement - ultimately

the France2 reportage clearly states "...samples "finalement" positifs" (without specifying which samples)

Presently on hols with a very slow connection. Only at minute 7 of Youtube Stade2 report.

By the way:
1) Kristin Armstrong and Sheryl Crow confirmed as having deposed with Feds (USADA NOT mentioned)

2) Betsy, if you are reading this:
Man, you are good looking lady ) (and of course, if Frankie is reading this, with all due respect):)
