As a cancer survivor Livestrong was a good resource for me during and after treatment. They educated about the non-medical issues facing patients, their families, and those fortunate enough to be survivors. My medical team was fantastic in talking with us about my disease and treatment, but that's only part of the tremendous impact that cancer can have on those it afflicts. While most assume that survival leaves the patient happy and care free, for many that's simply not the case. For me, the survivor's guilt was almost crippling at times, and through Livetsrong's suggestion I became a mentor to cancer patients with a similar diagnosis to mine, answering questions about what's ahead for the patient, and just being a living example that you can survive and live a full life again. I'm sure the experiences with Livestrong vary as they do for any organization, but for me it was a very positive experience during some miserable years.
