That quote shows what a fraud it was from the beginning. Lance as a family man? He was chasing after everything with two legs. It must have been a short leap to go from portraying Lance as a family man to portraying him as a clean cyclist. If you are building an image based on one lie then why not expand upon it with more lies?

Really in 2001 (the date of the article) he was screwing around on his wife? He screwed around on her since they were married until they were divorced?

If you can post a link detailing this I would appreciate it. I like reading about that kind of stuff. Thanks.

Here you go - sorry no photos.
Mr. Landis's introduction to the elite ranks of professional cycling came in late 2001 when he was offered a contract to race for the U.S. Postal team. As a first step, he'd been invited to Austin, Texas, to participate in a training camp where the team members could get to know each other.
.............

Later that night, some of the cyclists drove downtown to the offices of the agency that represents Mr. Armstrong. There, the party accelerated, according to Mr. Landis. Four strippers arrived at the offices with two bouncers and began performing a private show for the cyclists and others, he said. Mr. Landis and another young rider who attended, Walker Ferguson, said some people were snorting what appeared to be cocaine.

Mr. Armstrong didn't respond to requests for comment about Mr. Landis's description of the party. His lawyer, Tim Herman of Austin, said: "Mr. Armstrong had no contact with strippers or cocaine."

You sure are quick to the draw, doc. That is why I like you. No pics needed...I am delightfully divorced so I am well aware of strippers since I live in the strip club capital of the world.

Sounds like a fun time, the party yes it does.

I don't consider a group of dudes in a strip joint or at a stripper party as screwing around. They had bouncers there, so doubtful anything happened.

Besides most of those girls are just working their way thru nursing school. ;)

Is this called "chasing after everything with two legs"?

This guy is one up on LA. Surprised no cyclist has managed to pull this off:

A federal judge has ordered a Florida supplements company to pay more than $5.4 million to St. Louis Rams linebacker David Vobora.
U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel entered the order against the Anti-Steroid Program LLC of Key Largo, Fla., on Friday.
Vobora had sued the company over what he said was a contaminated supplement that led to a four-game suspension by the NFL for violating its anti-drug policy. The player says he used the company's "Ultimate Sports Spray" in June 2009 without knowing it contained the banned substance methyltestosterone. His lawsuit accused the company of intentionally misleading him.
The judge's order includes $2 million for damage to Vobora's reputation.
LMAO, like accusing an NFL player of taking steroids is damaging his reputation.

Also, not sure if this has been posted before:

http://www.aspentimes.com/article/20110616/NEWS/110619863/1001&parentprofile=1

DENVER — The world's second-ranked cycling team, Saxo Bank-SunGuard featuring three-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador, plan to participate in the debut USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Colorado.

The race comes through Aspen on Aug. 24.

I assume Bert himself would not be on the team sent to that race, but if he is, maybe LA will treat him at Cache-Cache that night. No cyclist spending a night in Aspen will want to pass up on that historic site now. The CAS decision should come down right about then. If both LA and Bert are in the restaurant at the time the decision is announced, someone will be celebrating, one way or another.

A few points, IMO:

1. LA will never let AC make a run at his title; this of course is based on the premise that he is a.) Not serving time and b.) Still has money left to bribe the UCI at the time;

2. The longer this drags on, the more likely event 1(b) will happen.

If LA goes to trial, together with his partners in the alleged crimes, there will be revelations about UCI/LA connected conduct forcing a new broom through the UCI structure.

Lance was cross-examinedat the SCA tribunal on November 30, 2005.

He could not recall the precise amount of his donation to the UCI, precisely how, when and to who it was paid but said “it was many years ago”.

However, McQuaid in July 2010 informed that LA made two donations to the UCI - a personal cheque/check of $25,000 in 2002 (TdS bribe?) and his management company cheque/check of $100,000 in 2005.

If LA on 30 November 2005 providing sworn oral testimony at the SCA tribunal is truthful then the 2005 donation must have been provided in December 2005 to the UCI.

Is there any event that was in train in late 2005 that would make this $100,000 donation to the UCI appear as odious as the $25,000 in 2002?

The UCI did not want to investigate LA on the 1999 "B" sample scientific testing results. WADA weighed in to initiate an investigation then the UCI responded by initiating their own investigation. This occurred commencing in October 2005 before the terms of reference were resolved on 15 December 2005.

The investigator appointed by the UCI was Emile Vrijman, a Dutch lawyer and friend of the Dutch UCI President Hein Verbruggen.

The Vrijman Report was a total farce and completely flawed as criticised by WADA and any person with any grasp of the English language.

Allegedly to avoid the Report going before a meeting of the UCI, Vrijman released it to the media before delivering it to the UCI. It was then a fait accompli and would not have been rejected by the UCI holding a properly constituted meeting for fear of embarrassment.

It is highly suspect that the second donation payment of $100,000 by LA to the UCI funded the attempted whitewash Vrijman Report.

You just sorta defined 'family man' there ChrisE....You are 'delightfully divorced, frequent strip clubs, "sounds like a fun time", and you don't consider this screwing around. You in a nutshell.
Kinda the anti-'family man'...

..and therefore goes Lance.

Agreed. I had never read that before.

If there was ever any doubt as to the lack of professionalism at the UCI, that document sums it up. The conversation between Richard Pound and Hein Verbruggen reveals that the UCI had a predetermined outcome from the Vrijman report, without Vrijman actually having obtained data from WADA.

The UCI is a farce, an absolute ******* farce.

Edit: I cannot use the nickname for Richard...

I don't want to get in to his personal life as it irelevant to his cycling (but not his 'brand') - but since you asked so nicely.

This is Armstrong pictured with Yellow Rose owner Don King.
ve6o48.gif

Then there was this story.
CYCLING legend Lance Armstrong has begged his wife Kristin to forgive him for cheating on her with another woman, say sources.
"Lance's friends, family and managers all told him he had to get rid of his mistress and focus on rebuilding his marriage," says a source.
Star broke the story that the four-time Tour de France winner coldly dumped his wife of five years and sources say it was for a 28-year-old mistress in San Francisco.

Well you appeared to think that LA couldn't get in from the 'Hill Country" - yet there he is with the Don.

The Star isn't great I admit but Cyclingnews and velonews aren't great at reporting that sort of stuff.

Consider the subject.

Anyone who is stoopid enough to offer the quotable line, 'I like women that are hotter than donut grease' has standards well below those of the Star.

Dave.

well if it really is relavent to the Armstrong thread then why not paint us a picture of what it looks like on the inside of Don's place? I can but you can not. If you really have any proof that dude was hitting some pancake lady in San Fran during that time then why not link up or do some real research. Try to do your placation of your forum friends,,,,,, I can do that also (of course I do not have friends )

Your links do not show anything but some 403 ... etc. and STORY / LINK DOES NOT EXIST.

Nice pictures though I really like the fact that hamstrong took his pick with the KING of the Rose.

Have you been inside the Rose? Nahhhh you like La Bare.

that is not the subject now. No doubt he was dumb enough to utter such Whisky Tango Lines.

But is there some actual proof of these lines that are spewed here? Nope .. it is just us and them talking trash.

I have no idea what you are trying to say but since you were so upset earlier I have a different article for you here:
Soon rumours began emerging that Armstrong had been having an affair with a student from San Francisco. His agents refuse to confirm or deny the allegations, but Armstrong has always been known as a ladies' man. When he was single, he earned the nickname FedEx, whose company slogan is "When you absolutely, positively have to have it overnight".

Dr M, thanks for the article that you posted, dated 2003, about Lance and his marriage/relationship with Kristin....I had never read that.
quite interesting...he took his bike to his wedding?? um..wtf?
and how surprising the quote that his need to win superceded anything and anyone else in his life.

also, something else I found interesting was the following story re Jan Ullrich..a real juxtaposition of Jan's and Lance's personalities in the two vignettes---very telling.

Just curious anti-me & Frankie people (I'll refrain from calling you "haters"). How do you refer to Frankie when he raced the majority of his races clean? Is he still a "doper" when he didn't dope while others did?
I guess we're all bowlers then (that was very funny Deogal)

Found this gem:

But if Armstrong turns out to have been morally fallible as well, that will be devastating. As his own agent, Bill Stapleton, put it to Dan Coyle in 2004, "Can you imagine what would happen if Lance tested positive? Can you imagine what would happen if it turns out we're screwing with people on this?"http://www.slate.com/id/2260464/pagenum/2

Just read this...thanks for posting it, B. hmmm. I think we may find out 'what would happen'. hopefully soon.
..sorry you have to listen to some rants regarding you & Frankie. They are in the tiny minority though.
cheers

This presumes UCI will weather the coming storm. If UCI should fold and a new sanctioning body emerge, it is doubtful the new gang will be tempted by offers of Franklins from Pharmstrong.

The "preferential" testing treatment AC was given last year might not be suspicious in normal circumstances, but knowing what a nice fellow Amstrong is, how much he likes Contador, and his relationship with McQuaid/UCI, I would be mildly surprised if there was nothing behind it. I hope we do find out one day.
