From Gossip Girl, season 3, episode 9, at 3:00m:

"And really, a debutant ball without Blair Waldorf is like a Tour de France without Lance Armstrong"

"I resent the comparison to that man*****"

I want to understand what you wrote. I really do. But I have no idea what you just said.

Could you paraphrase again into to bullet points?

I think what fatandfast is saying is Lance has already won.
Lance has won. The game is over.
Lance has his cake and has eaten most of it already....

Cover of Vanity Faire?
What the heck?
Lance used to be on the cover of everything. In his heyday, every cycling magazine from every country had him somewhere on the cover every month. Month after month after month. Lance somewhere on the cover. You remember that right? Most photographed athlete ever. And Sports Illustrated Covers too.

Yes, Lance has already won and eaten most of his cake too.
A few pieces left. Michelob Ultra, someday maybe Mr Coffee or Priceline Negotiator.
But that stuff is just icing on the cake now. Icing on the Awesome Cake.

That is all that is left....icing on the cake.
That and Spilt Milk.
But c'mon, The Hog, it is NO use crying over spilt milk.

BTW, the milk will spill on Tuesday.
Repeat, the milk will spill on Tuesday.
But no use crying.
waa.

I would agree but like Steve Jobs said - "who wants to be the richest guy in the cemetery"?

I'm not sure Armstrong would want to be remembered this way - there's very little fulfilment in being known as a doper, a liar and cheat regardless of how much money you have or had.

I see his demise a sad one.

It he really wanted to do was prove Dad wrong and all he did was prove Dad right.

Sad.

I honestly wish him the best - I hope he kind find a way out of this mess and find peace for himself.

Time will tell.

Okay! Until I read the next nonsensical post, then! Au revoir!

Actually, as a dedicated lurker here who cannot use the ignore list while at work, I'd be happy if you were to stay away entirely. Your quibbling over the logic of what others say gets old fast, when you have no knowledge or insights of your own about pro cycling to add to the conversation. Others may post things as knowledge-free as yours, but they are neither so prolific nor long-winded--and that includes Polish. If you want to continue to play lawyer you can do so in the legal issues sticky, I think.

Knowledge? Logic? Hey, if a woman weights as much as a duck she must be a witch.

Oh yeah anyone who abuses our legal system the way he has deserves to keep all his hard earned cash. Never mind the little old tax evasion (sucking OUR cash away btw) charge.

logic right?

So you send out the message that if you are prepared to fight long enough, then the law buckles and says "it's too expensive to chase you". Terrible idea - the rich can escape justice, so long as their lawyers make it inconvenient for them to pay for their crimes. The one wasting taxpayer money here is Lance, if he didn't persist with denial, we could all move on, and the clinic would become a bit quieter.

You mean in 400 words all you wanted to say is "don't bust him, don't spend tax payers dollars uncovering his illegal activity"

Why didn't you just say that?

It's like when our industries befoul and mire the entire hemisphere, under the aegis of government and with the protection of our military, which of course our taxes pay for, while often with convenient tax breaks for themselves, and then complaining about a few protesters messing up the park.

It's called pretzel logic. But so long as the mess is confined to someone elses yard, and not mine, why bother?

Gosh, when are the fanboys going to understand we're not buying the "expensive investigations are a waste of taxpayers' money" bull?* Give it a rest, boys; it's getting extremely repetitive. Use your creativity and come up with something new, please.

*And neither does the government, so you're wasting your breath.

One tactic of the myth machine is to attack the messenger. Just like there was an organized campaign to smear LeMond, Frankie and Betsy, Mike Anderson, Simeoni, Landis, Tyler, etc, there will be an organized campaign directed at the Feds an WADA.

They have already issued multiple absurd press statements on Jeff. Expect every case prosecuted by Doug Miller to be picked apart in an effort to pretend Lance will escape prosecution. It is a sign of desperation.

I like your list, Lemond a guy that has been on the attack on two fronts, his business took a dump as a result of Trek looking at Lance and Lemond and making Armstrong the sole source for their money and attention.

Lemond's second front was gigs of data about how current athletes when compared to historic performances would have to be on drugs to produce wattage reserved for nuke power plants. Lemond's drug data stored next to Pat McQuaid's mom's recipe for chili on UCI bookshelf.

Frankie and Besty, a nice mid western family headed by a strong woman with and admitted drug using husband.

Mike Anderson, a manny for lance's bikes, cars, houses and other toys. Tears flowed when he got fired without getting a loan to start a bike shop.

Landis and Tyler, two guys that while trying to get jobs after being caught for doping decided that what they know about Lance is greater than the rest of their life's accomplishments.
Neither man can do anything without being asked about the sun in their sky, Lance. The giver of all things and to hear them tell it the taker of those things when he gets mad.

Simeoni still emitting ear smoke because Lance can and did chase him down at will, Simeoni still caught up on the details of how petty Lance's actions were rather than his ability to act like a scorn teenage girl while riding his bike at breakneck speeds.
Now that none of the accusers have been smeared. Lance used PED at many points during his career.
Landis and Tyler are making a career at being Lance history experts, with an audience so small it fits in a government office.

Lance you should have given Landis a ride for ToC or something this guy is not going away. You better buy him a nascar because if he has to earn his own you will be 50 or 55 before he shuts up about you.

I don’t think Floyd or Hamilton have made a career out of it! Telling the truth hasn’t been popular and most certainly hasn’t been profitable. I think Armstrong owed Floyd a ride on Radioshack. But Armstrong wasn’t forth coming – or Pat had warned against it. Floyd had kept shum all these years – you’d think some loyalty wouldn’t you? If Lance was a Don in the Mafia he would have been shot from the inside years ago – he had no respect for the family. Lance is a snake – didn’t look after his mates. Bad move.

Take any one of them. I don't see how doping looks different through rose colored glasses. Andreau, Landis and Hamilton are dopers. They may be sweet, really nice guy dopers, great church member dopers, or caring, trying to help a sport they love dopers, take your pick but the thing they have in common can never be taken from them.

Lemond and Anderson both disagreed with the way Armstrong does business, Business after all is about making money so rather than place an opinion on it , the persons yields from the bicycle business, selling them or racing them appears to be easily measured. Lance is superior in both aspect to both of the mentioned gentlemen in all aspects of cycling.

Simeoni only competed against Lance as a racer and as a person of added value to the team(s) he raced for, clearly he did not accomplish as much as a racer as Lance did in both of their distinguished careers.
Filippo a good racer with no GT wins, no worlds . Although Simeoni was caught for doping a couple of times he managed to still get a team to ride for after using. No Nissan, RadioShack or Michelob ad campaigns have featured him in the US to my knowledge. I am not sure if he has a charity or how much money it has raised.

1 thing is certain, Lance takes his friendship with Dr.Ferrari much more seriuos than Filippo does.

Filippo Simeoni (born in Desio, province of Milan, August 17, 1971) is an Italian cyclist. His most important victories were the two stages he won in the Vuelta a España in 2001 and 2003.

More than for his prestations, Simeoni is known for his 'rebellious' actions. During the 18th stage win in the 2001 Vuelta he stopped just before the finish line and walked across the finish line with his bike in his hands. He did so as a tribute to the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Later the Union Cycliste Internationale fined him for this.

“I'm a thinker and I wanted to make people think again about the sport. I wanted to say that sport is an ideal activity for helping young people mature in life… The gesture of raising my bike above my head was also meant as a protest against the terrorists attacks in New York. Sport has to make peace gestures like this. We've had enough of war. Cyclists shouldn't have to feel distant from events that happen away from racing. I know a lot of cyclists who feel the same way that I do, but they don't say anything because the opportunity doesn't present itself. The important thing is that people understand that sport is a healthy thing to do.”
