People, keep this thread on-topic and don't go around trolling in it. This is an official thread and is therefore under a bit more scrutiny and as such it might be that we are easier to crack down on certain behaviour

Yes RR, you have been saying tax evasion since day 1. Impressive.

And not just that, since day 1 you have been saying fraud too.
And drug distribution, and organized doping program ringleader, and trafficking, and hookers and blow and jetfuel and livestrong.com and being mean to betsy and intimidating greg and selling bikes on ebay and flushing manrod's blood and bribing the UCI $500,000 etc etc etc. Impressive.

Yes, all great predictions.

But an even more impressive prediction - predict that Novitzsky would have leaked the indictment details of tax evasion to a spanish cyling website that needs to translated for many readers through google. Or predict a tree Octopus

bingo........

tax evasion

Guys, I have been saying Tax Evasion since day 1#

Novtizky spent 10 years at the IRS as an investigator

"In the U.S., the agent Jeff Novitzky, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is investigating Armstrong for fraud and tax evasion"

http://www.ultimosprint.com/2011/02/las-muestras-sospechosas-de-armstrong.html

What is a dopers motivation for doping? Some would say standing on the podium. A: Nah, prime motivation -> more money, give me more money(euros, dollars, whatever)

What is any entity trying to achieve with tax evasion? A: Pay less to achieve a result of more money.

Do dopers and tax evaders lie? Well I cannot see how they would not.

One may argue that doping and tax evasion are both forms of attempted fraud.

Now we know that miracle boy juiced and I would challenge anyone to present an argument that he is not a liar!

We know his wealth is measured in millions.

Does it make sense that tax evasion is one possible indictment charge for miracle boy? A slam dunk answer is very easy.

Show me an accountant or financial adviser, involved in fraud and whom does not lie?

Long awaited Google search algorithm update being rolled out. Could be tough times ahead for Demand Media.

Yup, big story in WSJ about it today - Google shutting down Overstock.com. Relegating them way back in search priority.

Fanboys and girls better start running over to Livestrong.com and click on all of the ads - until the advertisers get wise to it. Otherwise, who is gonna pay for the defense?

Dave.

DMD Googled

I get the impression the IPO investors were betting on share prices rocketing like Google after their IPO.

New algorithm being rolled out first in the US

cheers

Hmmm... time to buy or sell? Anyone know the short position? Hard to believe that they already have one.

Google Announces Massive Algorithm Change, Declares War On Content Farms, Including Demand Media
Google? What kind of a name is that?

Will DMD's stock will vanish like it did in Iraq? Never found any there either.

Dave.

too bad that wasn't a better recording.
What I noticed near the end: "Because the other option is [inaudible] and everybody’s gonna testify [inaudible] it could blow the whole sport.."

The full quote is in from Lance to Landis which I gave to a friend. From memory it's 'because the other option is all out war in a french court room and everybody's gonna testify and it could rip rip the whole sport apart.'

Light read from Spain

Bit of light reading from Spain

http://www.uniradioinforma.com/noticias/articulo44411.html

After google translation

"The request of U.S. authorities in this regard was because the seven-time champion of the Tour de France is involved in a case of fraud and tax evasion in the collection of insurance policies that were rejected for suspicion of doping around athlete"

Show me a doper who does not lie. cheers

Demand Media will eventually be screwed by this.

I don't think so.

First, some, maybe a lot, of the content produced is valuable when it fills a vacuum that is not being provided from other sources. Stupid questions like how to get pine sap out of hair need to be answered, and content mills are good at providing a page that gives the needed information. Problems occur when content mills' pages occlude better information sources and when even nonsensical searches still bring up content mill pages. There is a portion of search's long tail that can be serviced by content mills, thus enriching the Internet. Whether that portion is profitable enough for Demand, I don't know.

Second, content mills will adapt. Right now they mostly produce low grade content. In the future I would not be surprised to see much higher quality articles. In many cases they could simply triple the typical article length from 400 - 800 words to 1200 - 2400 and cluster the like subject articles together. Reducing quantity in favor of quality would go a long way toward getting rid of people's objections to content mills.

So glad I don't work in interactive media anymore.

Holy crap - a highly placed geek at Google says "there's a department full of Ph.Ds that exists for the sole purpose of getting Demand Media out of the search results."

An entire Department? Full of Ph.D's
Yikes, a Department at Google is probably a few hundred people or more.
Sole purpose to kill Demand Media search results.
Kill Livestrong.org.
There has GOT to be a few haters in that department, for SURE.

No worries though.
Dylan Casey has a cubicle next door and he is hacking the Algorithm at night after the Ph.D's go home. Dylan works Swing shift. Sometimes Graveyard.
Bwahaha. Brahahahahaha.

Livestrong.com had a record number of hits last month.
Geez Dylan, don't overdo it lol;)

I wonder if Demand Media hires the hot intern chicks to create SEO content for pages to serve to people who search for "Lance Armstrong Doping Investigation", you know, after they're done saving the world from Cancer.

The .org must not work as hard as the .com. Maybe they have French employees?

Can't complain. Not like working at Google, but it does also offer free meals.

But unlike the free food at Google which includes scrumptious-sounding dishes such as Ahi Tuna & Avocado Poke, Eggplant Ratatouille, Pollo en Huerto, Seared Day Boat Scallops in Green Coconut Curry Sauce, Arugula with Dried Apricots, Sautéed Wild Mushrooms, Spinach Lentil Dal and Tropical Shrimp Bisque soups, Hazelnut Shortcakes with Plum Compote, Chocolate Coconut Cheesecake and Creamy Lemon Macadamia Nut Cookies, all we have at the Yellow Rose are free titties and beer. But again, can't complain.

Good point.

Since we are discussing "How EPO caused Lance's Cancer" for the hundredth time over there in the "Lance PeePee" thread, we should probably start the ".org versus .com" debate for the millionth time over here in this thread. Hookers, Blow, Jetfuel. You know the routine by now. Dashing the hopes and dreams of cancer victims. Profiting off them lol. Charity Navigator stats.

Then someone can start a "Lance was transformed from a Donkey" discussion to round out the day. Ahhh, it never gets old lol again.
