It was already mentioned on 'The Armstrong Talking Points' thread - but how the mighty have fallen.

Before it was 'the most tested athlete in history", "never tested positive" and how those nasty French people had it in for him.

Now his only tactic is to try and get the investigation stopped - you would think someone who has protested their innocence so much would welcome any investigation.

slam dunk.

- No wonder that team LA reached out to the chairman of the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies. That's were the agenda is set.

- Not surprisingly, Kingston uses the same talking points LA's attorney has been using since the investigation began. "it's a waste of tax payer's money"

It is interesting that it is now public that the investigation has moved far beyond the FDA. Multiple Federal agencies are involved.

sources close to the case told VeloNews that the investigation now involves several federal agencies, including the U.S. Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and both the civil and criminal divisions of the Department of Justice.

i guess the picture of this guy speaks volumes.
no too much substance in the head, a fake smile, and, well, a republican, right?

“But you’re really going after somebody whose name is synonymous with health.”

Can we invite this guy over to the Clinic?

Smart guy. Lance needs him.

During an appearance on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Mahr” on Friday night, Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) stated clearly that he does not believe in the process of evolution.

I believe I came from God, not from a monkey so the answer is no,” he said, laughing, when asked if he subscribes to the theory. Later in the segment he added, “I don’t believe that a creature crawled out of the sea and became a human being one day.”

Of course, if Representative Kingston had any knowledge on this subject at all he would know that evolution does not stand for the idea that humans evolved from monkeys, but that man is a primate and shares common ancestors with other living primates. For example, humans and chimpanzees have DNA that is 98% similar.

Of course Kingston’s views shouldn’t be too surprising, last month a Gallup poll found that a majority of Republicans are, apparently, Young Earth Creationists, which is perhaps the most scientifically illiterate of all theories on the origin of man.

Wonder what Lance thinks of his views on health care:

From NBC's Luke Russert

Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) came out strongly against a provision of health-care overhaul that is actually quite popular across the country.

Talking on the House floor today about the provision that allows children to stay on their parent's health-care plan until they're 26 years old, Kingston said (paraphrasing here, but pretty close):

"I have four kids under the age of 26. I have raised them to be responsible. The average age of soldiers in Vietnam was 19. World War II probably the same. I have raised my kids to be responsible, to get health care at 21. Kids don't need to be running home to mommy and daddy until they're 26 for healthcare."

Telling how in the 70's in America investigative journalism could bring down President Nixon, whereas today the Feds have difficulty (also with the political resistance within a certain part of the political class) in bringing down a cyclist.

wow, in this guy's universe, one would indeed wonder where the similarities between the average human being and the average monkey come from, if not from shared ancestry.

I personally like monkeys and they do less damage to the world than human beings in general and republicans in particular.
(not that kingston is saying he hates monkeys, but he's not showing them proper respect either, by denying a common origin):D

Should we be surprised that the guy believes in miracles?

I don't think anybody--no matter how innocent--would welcome a federal investigation that has that person as a target.

With only EXTREMELY rare exceptions (like poor Richard Jewell), the feds provide two kinds of feedback when an investigation is over: (1) The target is indicted; or (2) Nothing. Nobody would welcome that.

You think Lance would remain silent if he got off - maybe he could hire a PR company or get on Twitter or something.

The feds don't tell you that the investigation is over and that you have been exonerated.

I could care less what Lance says.

Really - not winning something never stopped him before:
“It’s over,” Armstrong said at the time. “We won. They lost. I was yet again completely vindicated.”

first, he said he'd welcome any investigation, under the premisse of his innocence.
now, he's paying his laywers per day what I haven't earned in a lifetime in order to make the investigation stop.

It appears the talking points are getting confused.

A few weeks ago Wonderboy was crowing about the Feds dropping their investigation into Mozilo.......now it is the Feds never tell you when they end the investigation without charges?

Which is it?

I agree. It is very interesting. When this comes down, I expect it will be big. It would be too embarrassing for the feds to spend all this money and come away with nothing. They've got to justify their existence to Congress.

The drama heightens!

I would like to see an official statement by the feds stating that they "dropped their investigation." I doubt there is such a statement. I expect this is just LA's jabbering.

Why are you citing Lance Armstrong as a fact source?

Huh?

That's not what I'm saying.

I'm almost certain that indictments will come, but I remain skeptical that Armstrong will be charged (although this recent news is causing me to rethink this).

He also doesn't believe in supporting victims of 9/11:

Though most of this article is all about the success of the Armstrong lobbying effort (I trust someone will investigate Mr. Kingston's campaign contributions), there was at least one interesting tidbit:

the Armstrong case is moving forward, with witnesses having been interviewed as recently as this past week.

Golly, does that mean that there is more than one witness?

As for Kinston's plea, can I offer a suggested edit:

“But you’re really going after somebody whose name is synonymous with <edit> cancer.”

Much better.

Of course, Kingston's latest campaign was against alleged 'homo-erotic art' at the Smithsonian. Has he seen pictures of Lance & Matthew?

And, if he is so concerned about health, why was he one of the few members to vote against the 9/11 Health and Compensation Act?

Not like the heroes of 9/11, and the victims of this terrorist act, need to have medical benefits. Probably none of them are even aware of cancer.

Dave.

He is right. He didn't evolve from monkeys.

With his overt man-crush he has devolved into one.

Dave.

It's surprising this didn't leak out before now. It's a shame we don't have anyone on the forum with inside knowledge of the investigation.

Another inference.

The absence of leaks about the investigation is a very good thing. This is multiple agencies working together without a leak. This is indicative of a very well run investigation.

But here in The Clinic we worked it out last November:
At least six American officials were present in Lyon this week, including Novitzky, U.S. federal prosecutor Doug Miller, U.S. Anti-Doping Agency CEO Travis Tygart and FBI special agent Olivier Faraole.
