Its not against the law to be an a-hole, bully. Rich people tend to be a-holes and bullies because they think they're better than the rest of us normal non rich folks. Rich athletes are the extreme of that. So he maybe a bully but at last look they'res no bully law in effect tocharge him with. I'm sure the anti LA people in here wish there was.:D

It isn't per se illegal to be an a-hole. In some states it is illegal to be a bully under some circumstances (schools). But, it is illegal for anyone, bully/a-hole/any combination thereof, to intimidate a Federal witness.

The Justice Dept. knows of the incident and will likely investigate it thoroughly. BTW, there are lots of bullies in prison systems, both Federal and state. :D

Aspen is LA's second home. The restaurant/bar he often frequents. Having been a news type myself until I quit in disgust, I know journalists well enough. It really not as far out as you think it. :D
And why would Hamilton go along with it?

To get some buzz going for a future book?

Has anyone asked Tyler if he has a book in the works?
If so - what has Tyler said I wonder.

Lance Gets in Tyler's Face!!!

Wow.....Lance really should have kept his cool & kept his mouth shut.....:)

Witness tampering is the last thing he needs at this stage in the game. Lance always had a big mouth as a youngster & still has it, he's just more muted by his entourage since winning his Tours.

The F.B.I. has requested surveillance video from a Colorado restaurant

From the New York Times:

The F.B.I. has requested surveillance video from a Colorado restaurant...

Jodi Larner, a co-owner of the French restaurant Cache Cache in Aspen, said in a telephone interview Tuesday that she spoke to an F.B.I. agent in the morning and that he told her she would be subpoenaed for the surveillance tape.

Hamilton's Attorney Turn Up the Heat

Manderson declined to say whether Hamilton would appear before the grand jury again, but hopes federal authorities will interview some of the people in the bar who witnessed what occurred, including those in Armstrong's entourage.

"I hope federal investigators interview the restaurant owner and those in Armstrong's entourage under penalty of perjury to force them to tell the truth about the incident," Manderson said.

I think Jodi is about to find out that being an a$$hole to someone because Lance eats at your restaurant and then lying about the altercation is a bit more serious than she initially thought. Serves them all right.

So who actually heard the exact words and is going to testify what happened between Lance/Tyler during this conversation?

Oh wait...probably Betsy/Frank who were in the room also.

...and Greg taped the conversation... but Stephanie is still claming publicly that it didn't happen.

Doesn't the FBI's response seem to indicate Lance HAS received an official target letter? Otherwise, why would Lance be obligated to behave under the assumption he is a target? I'm not sure news leaks count....

WIth reference to the NYTimes article written by Juliet Macur----don't you find it interesting that the 'local real-estate' -whatever ,guy DiLuca was "then invited to sit down and have a drink with Armstrong"?
another 'witness' that says nothing appeared to happen...

There's no law against lying to the press. If they try to re-tell the story in court and it's found to be materially wrong, things could get sticky. At minimum it's just more lies to weaken Tailwind's defense.

Thanks for the link. You can bet the FBI is also talking to the folks from Outside and anyone else they can find who was there.

I find it hard to believe they only have surveillance in the kitchen.

Do you think Lance might impact the guys business prospects in Aspen? Wonder if he and Lance knew each other before Tyler ambled in.

In that NYT article:

"Larner said she later told Hamilton that he was not welcome back at her restaurant because the group he was with did not tip their server. The next day, she said, she returned to work to find a series of threatening voicemails on the restaurant’s answering machine because she had stood up for Armstrong Saturday night. She said she planned to contact the local sheriff about them."

If these threatening voicemails preceded the Outside Magazine tweet of the incident, the first known communication, then those complaints must have been most likely from restaurant patrons who witnessed the events.

In the USA it is proper etiquette to withhold a gratuity for service if that service was not up to standard. Not a justification for banning a person (before the meal is finished and bill presented?) for not tipping.

I bar-tended and waited my way through college and a couple years after. Never seen anything remotely like that. You might, if you got to them before they left, ask them what the problem was. Typically the customers are long gone by the time the wait staff collects the tip, so even that rarely happens.

For a customer not to tip, then hang around waiting for the wait staff or management to confront them about it is frankly hard to believe. To believe that they then banned someone for that "reason", well...

...smells like...well, it just smells quite frankly.

Stop debating each other, and deal with the topic only.

BTW, if you suspect a troll, one sure way to make their day is to engage them for umpteen posts. If it is to "stop a thread from derailing", it is throwing fertiliser on a weed that might otherwise never have germinated.

Maybe some folks want to engage them and don't care if they're a troll or not. I know I think it's useful to examine logic I find flawed. Maybe I or they will learn something we didn't know before.

I can't remember any time where I did not tip at a sit-down restaurant -- I think I've always left a tip even when service was poor.

But I can't imagine sticking around after not tipping. If I were to not leave a tip, I'd be sure the book it out there. But then, I'm a wuss.

All people in the restaurant business willing to go to jail for Lance, please go stand over there by the group of red butted primates? Come, move it please...
Oh, sorry people, in fact, please go stand on the entire opposite end of the from, for later ease of distinction. I was just informed in my ear piece that surprisingly, the primates chose to be wiser than that. They will be allowed to pick their next species for incarnation before you.

Unless they paid and/or left the tip in cash, there will be a credit card receipt that should show whether or not some form of tip was left to the staff. Jodi should remember, oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. The truth will set everyone FREE.
