Its not against the law to be an a-hole, bully. Rich people tend to be a-holes and bullies because they think they're better than the rest of us normal non rich folks. Rich athletes are the extreme of that. So he maybe a bully but at last look they'res no bully law in effect tocharge him with. I'm sure the anti LA people in here wish there was.

It isn't per se illegal to be an a-hole. In some states it is illegal to be a bully under some circumstances (schools). But, it is illegal for anyone, bully/a-hole/any combination thereof, to intimidate a Federal witness.

The Justice Dept. knows of the incident and will likely investigate it thoroughly. BTW, there are lots of bullies in prison systems, both Federal and state.

Aspen is LA's second home. The restaurant/bar he often frequents. Having been a news type myself until I quit in disgust, I know journalists well enough. It really not as far out as you think it.

Hamilton's Attorney Turn Up the Heat

There's no law against lying to the press. If they try to re-tell the story in court and it's found to be materially wrong, things could get sticky. At minimum it's just more lies to weaken Tailwind's defense.

I find it hard to believe they only have surveillance in the kitchen.

In that NYT article:

"Larner said she later told Hamilton that he was not welcome back at her restaurant because the group he was with did not tip their server. The next day, she said, she returned to work to find a series of threatening voicemails on the restaurant’s answering machine because she had stood up for Armstrong Saturday night. She said she planned to contact the local sheriff about them."

If these threatening voicemails preceded the Outside Magazine tweet of the incident, the first known communication, then those complaints must have been most likely from restaurant patrons who witnessed the events.

In the USA it is proper etiquette to withhold a gratuity for service if that service was not up to standard. Not a justification for banning a person (before the meal is finished and bill presented?) for not tipping.

For a customer not to tip, then hang around waiting for the wait staff or management to confront them about it is frankly hard to believe. To believe that they then banned someone for that "reason", well...

BTW, if you suspect a troll, one sure way to make their day is to engage them for umpteen posts. If it is to "stop a thread from derailing", it is throwing fertiliser on a weed that might otherwise never have germinated.

Maybe some folks want to engage them and don't care if they're a troll or not. I know I think it's useful to examine logic I find flawed. Maybe I or they will learn something we didn't know before.

I can't remember any time where I did not tip at a sit-down restaurant -- I think I've always left a tip even when service was poor.

But I can't imagine sticking around after not tipping. If I were to not leave a tip, I'd be sure the book it out there. But then, I'm a wuss.

Unless they paid and/or left the tip in cash, there will be a credit card receipt that should show whether or not some form of tip was left to the staff. Jodi should remember, oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. The truth will set everyone FREE.
