A legal question: Could Lance be held accountable in court for the version his lawyer, Fabiani, spins off of the Aspen story, if it is proven incorrect?

"Armstrong attorney Mark Fabiani told the Daily News that Hamilton and his friends pulled up in front of Armstrong's Aspen home on Sunday. The group did not approach the house but instead stood on the street, taking pictures and speaking loudly. Armstrong was not at home at the time.

I'd assume this is from security cameras at Lance's gate. The fact doesn't seem particularly suspicious or obsessive to me -- Lance's Xanadu is probably quite the tourist attraction for cyclist visiting the area. Fib's spinning it is just a distraction from the real issue, and counterproductive for Tyler to address at all

I can't remember any time where I did not tip at a sit-down restaurant -- I think I've always left a tip even when service was poor.

But I can't imagine sticking around after not tipping. If I were to not leave a tip, I'd be sure the book it out there. But then, I'm a wuss.
Hey, if the staff there is so pro-Lance, what are the chances that the waiters in fact warmed the group up for Lance's appearance with some inpleasantries? If I were to accept bad tipping as a grave, yet real fact, and I should considering the consequences it triggered...then how far-fetched is it to think the staff were really not to expect any more for their "service"?

I wonder how much Cache Cache is enjoying their fame right now, being on the FBI's voice dial now. It's a bad time to suck up to guilty people if there ever was.

Unless they paid and/or left the tip in cash, there will be a credit card receipt that should show whether or not some form of tip was left to the staff. Jodi should remember, oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. The truth will set everyone FREE.

A fact which would be top of mind to anyone in front staff of the food service industry. If the claim of no tipping continues, it's either the truth or there was a cash payment for the tip and/or the bill. If the tipping aspect of the story is fabricated and was on the credit card receipt, I can't believe anyone would be so dumb as to continue with it after the FBI had contacted them.

I think Jodi is about to find out that being an a$$hole to someone because Lance eats at your restaurant and then lying about the altercation is a bit more serious than she initially thought. Serves them all right.

glad to see you back posting, tff !

The gratuity could be automatically included in the bill if the party size is greater than a certain number. The group may have finished their meal, ordered dessert, and been given the bill before finishing. They then asked that the gratuity be removed from the bill. But that does not explain why they they decided not to pay the gratuity.

If restaurants banned people for not tipping then Mr. Pink would quickly run out of places to eat.

"Larner, a friend of Armstrong’s, said the videotape would have images only from the kitchen area of her restaurant, so she doubted that it would help the F.B.I. because the confrontation occurred in the bar area."

Apparently, Ms. larner is more concerned about employees snacking on the fois gras, than keeping eyes on her registers, booze, and bar patrons.

Don't think we've ever built a restaurant that had cameras in the kitchen and not in the dining areas, bar, or entry. All points of access, all points of sale, offices, and any areas serving or storing alcohol are ALWAYS covered. If the rear entrance is accessed through the kitchen (as is usually the case), then a camera might be pointed at the door, but not into the kitchen proper.

I guess if you work for Jodi you can dip into the till, but don't be grazing on the dessert. Maybe someone from the Denver office should drive up and see just how many cameras there really are...

Also consider that theres about a 99.9% chance that the meal was expensed by someone, most likely an Outside staffer.

I know when I expense meals certain facts always hold true. One, I'm less worried/critical about the quality of the food and service as I'm not footing the bill, and two, I usually leave a larger tip cause I'm too lazy to do the math, the tip should be larger because we eat more (free food!), or I really don't care how much I leave (see point #1).

It could be the kind of restraunt that some of the patrons don't want their picture taken with who they are dining with. If you don't look for trouble you won't find any.

Would you tip if you had been told that you weren't invited back... prior to getting the bill and writing in the tip?

But the facts of that point, make the point itself irrelevant. Because they told him he wasn't welcome back before his meal was over, so the amount he tipped was unknown and it's quite frankly a bull$h!t excuse.

Executive Chef and Co-Owner is

Ok this explains why there are cameras in kitchen and probably driveway--to make sure 1) the chefs aren't getting too high and 2) to make sure the place doesn't get raided by the feds

Co-owner and Executive Chef of Casche Casche Chris Lanter is spokesman for NORML

"He and Jodi Larner bought the restaurant in June 2004"

And...

"Lanter continues to puff on the hootie rat quite frequently" - lol

If Tyler is writing a book, this would be great free publicity . . .

It would most probably have been a non event if an Outside Magazine journalist dining next door (and not an eye witness) had not tweeted.

Cannot see how TH then initiated the brouhaha for the sole purpose of alleged book sales and further considering LA was known to be on a 100 mile charity bike ride that day starting in Cool Springs, Tennessee.

I agree...

...that this topic can have its own thread if the mods would please accommodate it. Whenever I go to the "another interesting piece..." thread, I could never remember whether I was on page 289 or 347 or where I stopped off reading. There are now over 3,000 replies on that thread. This Tyler Incident seems to be a whole new thing by itself, eh!

:)

considering what may lie ahead w/r to Lance's future activity in this witness-throttling arena, it may well be very worthwhile to keep this thread. :)
