It's a shame to see Benotti doing a variant of the sleazy thing Armstrong is doing. That's all I'm saying.

"Cancer awareness" is needed about as much as "death awareness." Money goes to Armstrong that could be going to research and/or treatment. That's awful. And the way he blends his moneymaking with his "awareness raising" is disgusting. The man lacks an ethical sensibility.

Yep, exactly. I posted a long comment a while ago explaining cancer doesn't need any help in getting the (exact) amount of attention it deserves. Every single penny should go towards research and treatment.

You invoke the sufferings of cancer survivors to disparage Armstrong.
Armstrong invokes the sufferings of cancer survivors to enhance his brand.
What's the real difference between what you are doing and what Armstrong is doing?

Invoke : cite or appeal to (someone or something) as an authority for an action or in support of an argument : the antiquated defense of insanity is rarely invoked today.
• call on (a deity or spirit) in prayer, as a witness, or for inspiration.
• call earnestly for : she invoked his help against this attack.
• summon (a spirit) by charms or incantation.

I did not 'invoke' anything.

I dont have a brand.

I dont promote myself or enrich myself on the suffering of others.

I dismissed the idiotic postings of the clinic clown by posting such.

Read more into as you will.

If am sleazy by posting less than a hundred words on a cycling site, i wonder what that makes Armstrong?

What is needed is awareness into the misuse of donations that Armstrong is perpetrating. Everyone is the western world knows about cancer because nearly every family has had someone survive or die from it. Then on top of the personal we have famous people who have fought and survived or died from it.

Deaths of some of the famous from Cancer;

Steve Jobs
Dennis Hopper
Patrick Swayzee
Paul Newman
Farah Fawcett
Ted kennedy
Bob Denver edited
Anne Bancroft
Eartha kitt

Some well know survivors of Cancer;

Christina Applegate
Olivia Newton John
Suzanne Somers
Kathy Bates
GeneWilder
Fran Drescher
Kylie Minogue
Lance Wonderboy Armstrong

now that list was compiled in a 30 sec google search. I am pretty sure it can be extended by many more names and therefore demonstrate no need for awareness, as we all know about it.

Every single pharmaceutical company in the world would kill to find the cure for cancer as they would enrich themselves beyond belief again demonstrating what livewrong is about is bogus.

Now if you live in a hole in the ground and are not connected to the real 'western' world chances are you may not know what cancer is but then chances are you dont want to know either.

So 'cancer awareness' is livewrong speak for "give me your dollars" and to repeat it here puts posters in the fanboy category.

The problem I have is that it would have come across better if he said.. "I didn't know Steve that well. But in the two hours we meet he inspired me, excited me.... etc. etc. etc." - rather than pretend they were close and elude that Steve consulted him on various cancer treatments.

Per the email Jobs was famous for his one line email replies. He wrote everyday to 1000's of customers. Many believed there was a ghost writer. I'll guess we'll find out when then authorised biography is released at the end of October - there's a list of his famous one liners at Macrumors.com.

Examples here: http://techcrunch.com/2010/04/12/an...drop-support-for-the-first-generation-iphone/ - http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=8357

- I guess that puts Armstrong not as a "friend" but just another guy in the 1000s that Jobs would reply to...

The clincher is the gratuitous plug for the Livestrong apps - the for profit Livestrong apps. Shameless.

....I wonder in that two hour meeting back in 2007 if Jobs asked Lance about the drug accusations? If he did you can bet Armstrong lied to him.

I wonder will he mention Armstrong in his biography

Lightweight plane smacking water type cancer. I hear it becomes terminal much quicker than the other forms of cancer.

thanks for the correction Bob Denver was who i meant.

Most of those celebrity's you listed had their own foundations.
Bob Denver's "Desert Isle Foundation" taught hundreds of underpriviledged Somoan Youth the many innovative uses of coconuts for example.

But lets face it, none of those Foundations were as successful as Lance's.
Why not? It was because Lance's lazer like focus.
You know its true.
Don't hate Lance for his lazer like focus.

Kind of makes you wonder what could have been.
If Bob did not run out of time.....
Maybe a Shortwave Coconut Lazer Rescue Beacon?
To attract the attention of nearby aircraft?
Although that might have proven dangerously distracting for amatuer pilots flying homemade kit planes yikes.

Newman's foundation has done more than Armstrong's by a wide margin. Return to reality Polish---or maybe see reality for the first time?

Polish, that was beneath even you -- making fun of dead people.

The Denver Foundationis to assist the families and enrich the lives of special need individuals in his home state of West Virginia.

(the foundation's monies, unlike your hero's, actually go to help these people rather than enrich the life of the founder.)

belittling it and then using it to make fun of John Denver's manner of death is just in really bad taste. bah!

Polish you are missing by a little bit. Nobody is showing the real estate John Denver owned. Nobody is using photos of Paul Newman to show him racing cars or swimming in a sweet pool would mean that somehow all their income is tied to a charity. It works with Lance because he is such a shifty ego maniac. He makes plenty of cash but the innuendo that he is the king of siphon is always going to be there. Armstrong brought lots of this on himself, if he had tried to correct people when they were making him out to be everybody's all American king of the world, he would have been way closer to the ground if he fell off his pedestal. Nobody is after Greg Louganis or Saul Raisin.

The RadioShack, beer,Nissan money is dismissed because it's not easy, showing Lance's pool(s) is easy,I hope somebody can photoshop in a yellow skimmer or livestrong pool sweep or lawn chairs, just a little more. If every pro athlete or celebrity that has a foundation is deeply analyzed this is going to be an even better thread.

Do I think Lance is smart enough to trick airport employees worldwide, heads of state, thousands out of millions in hard earned, heart felt donations, eluded doping controls over a 20 year career, head of a decade(s) long international drug and money laundering ring? No I don't but reading about others that do is great fun.

And, Polish, if you are going to belittle the good work of charities other than your hero get the simple spelling right.

It is not "Somoan" but Samoan. You most probably do not know where that island is cos Lance never raced there.

Has anybody talked about his body oder yet? How about what kind of seat covers for his car(s)? Better yet, his driving record? How about how dirty his toenails are? Pets, look into his pets (if any) I'm sure you can find something that will get the hen house clucking with how he treats animals. What about his 6th grade record?

I mean really, you guys need to start covering some new territory. You've beaten the crap out of the same stuff over and over. Even I'm getting bored with this thread and I've found it very entertaining and fascinating.

It's time to find new ways to hate Lance Armstrong.

What a wonderful tribute, one of the best I have read.
Insightful and inspirational.
And funny - IPOOD Toilet T-Shirt lol.

The comments by cycletard make one appreciate the genius and excellence even more.
World Class versus cycletard lol.

"I remember once being on a beach in Mexico and a fat guy walked by in a T-shirt that showed a guy on the toilet and one word: "IPOOD." I took a picture of him with my iPhone and sent it to Steve. If a guy can laugh hysterically in an email, he did."

If a guy can mockingly humiliate you with an email that makes you think he found your email funny, but in reality thought you must be a complete idiot to find scatological humor on a beach tee shirt humorous enough to send the founder of Apple a picture text, he did.

Lance, I think a book was written regarding the character of your "relationship" you had with Steve Jobs: He's just not that into you. Jobs created products and a company that in many ways changed the way we interact. You rode your bike really hard, while charged to the gills on drugs, and won some races in France (because you were too much of a coward to take the Pepsi challenge the rest of the year). Quit blowing yourself in public.

Nah -then the righteous would only complain that the hen house are so full of hate that they use every way to show it.

Its much easier to merely highlight his career of doping and profiting from cancer, then sit back and enjoy the entertainment of people who claim to be neutral fall over themselves to defend or explain the fraud.

Hear hear.
I also find scatological humor a trifle irksome.
A bit immature surely?

Problem being Lance is still lying. He notoriously used a Blackberry not an iPhone. He even did a sponsorship deal with HP laptops. Armstrong was still using his Blackberry during his 2009 Comeback 2.0 so I'm not sure when Lance got his iPhone. But to state "I took the photo with my iPhone" is a lie.

Armstrong will never be on the same level as Jobs. To pretend to be part of Jobs's close circle is shameless to say the very least. But then again nothing surprises me with Armstrong. The true cash-in King.

blah blah blah from Polish and his banal circumlocution.

One name, irrefutable fame and an unblemished Cancer foundation...Terry Fox.

Terry Fox, and his family, do not need lazer focus. No, they have compassion, love and honesty on their side...which is in complete contradiction to LA.

Polish, do you know what Terry did on one leg, laden with mets, while he KNEW he was dying?

Just stop being so silly, you are humiliating yourself.
