I think so. Looks like he's starting to distance himself from cycling. Kids, no. 1, cancer, no. 2, and cycling "a distant third". Could this be the start of showing cycling, and everything associated with it, isn't that important for him nowadays?

so lets use a bit of logic here.

Lance is still a father and is still involved in cancer as well. He's a retired cyclist now.

So basically he has prioritised the two things he still does over the thing he doesn't do any more. Hardly an ulterior motive there

Article has been deleted from CN!!

Quote was there today:

"Aldag said that UCI president Pat McQuaid should be removed from office for accepting a $125,000 donation from Lance Armstrong without correctly presenting the transaction to the public. “In real life you would say: No one survives an affair like that. One should say: McQuaid did not tell the truth, and he is in that position (as UCI President - ed.), therefore he should go!” Aldag said."

Rolf Aldag no longer wants to be deeply involved in cycling, saying that he has “no interest in working in a scenario that I don't like and where nothing changes." He also criticised the UCI and its president Pat McQuaid, particularly as to their stand on doping.
He also spoke out against Hans-Michael Holczer, the former Gerolsteiner team boss who is now at Team Katusha. “If he has such high moral requirements, then you must say that he failed massively in their everyday implementation in the past. He always said that he was clean and wanted his riders to ride clean – and then you go around blindly and have three huge doping cases with Stefan Schumacher, Bernhard Kohl and Davide Rebellin on your team? And then to say you have nothing to do with it - that doesn't work, of course.”

Off subject slightly but I remember reading in Walsh's book that LeMond said something like he was told one of Armstrong's team took a urine test for him at one stage, I can't remember clearly but it was something like that. I have never seen this story anywhere. Can anyone shed any light on this? Or am I getting it wrong?

TdF 1999? 6 samples?

You're probably thinking of this passage on page 288. It doesn't involve Lemond, and it doesn't specify how the urine was altered, just that it appeared to be.
From Lance to Landis

During the French investigation into the U.S Postal Service team after the 2000 TdF, fifteen urine samples were later examined by Dr. Gilbert Pepin, a Parisian-based toxicologist, and some time afterward by Professor Michel Audran from the Dept of Pharmacology at the University of Montpellier. They found virtually nothing in the samples, thirteen of which belonged to Lance Armstrong. Rather than being reassured by this, they were suspicious. SCA lawyer Cody Towns asked Dr. Ashenden about the clarity of those samples.

CT: What do the samples being too clear indicate to you?

MA: Clear urine is inconsistent with an athlete who has just been on a bike for four, five, six hours and raced up a mountain, and it is consistent with urine substitution, and that concerns me because the year 2000 was the time where there was an enormous amount of publicity about the work to develop a test for r-EPO. And I think that if you look at that and take into account the fact all of his urine samples were clear and it was during the mountain stages, as well, that causes me concern.

Ashenden also recalled instances from the 2004 Olympics in Athens in which medalists concealed quantities of bogus urine on their bodies and successfully defrauded doping control. The point was clear: if it were possible at the Olympics, where testing protocols are so stringent, it could happen anywhere.

Nice. I lol'd. Bravo.

It must have been Tyler.

I was going to suggest Frankie - but was afraid Betsy would kick my *** yikes.

See you in 24hrs.
Need to serve some ban time for mentioning Betsy and Greg today.
The mods are great though - don't get me wrong.

That would make more sense, seeing how he as admitted to using EPO in the 99 tour. I was just thinking that Tyler's lunchbag distribution was still intact in 99, before Ferrari really got involved and moved the PED use into the stratosphere of sophistication. "Lance, don't use EPO". Yes, yikes.

Its ok if you mention Lemond or Betsy as long as you praise them. Beware, my longest ban (6 months) was because I questioned GL's motivation in "discovering" LA's poor physiological traits coincidentally when LA won 3 tours. Don't go there.

Actually, you served it as you had a bit of meltdown when it was shown that LeMond had only become aware of the Ferrari connection in 2001 - like the rest of the world.

But as you say - you don't want to go there.

Thanks, but this wasn't the bit I was thinking of. I lent it to my brother so I can't verify. I'm probably getting my wires crossed, I thought it was LeMond saying he was told someone had taken a urine test for Lance. Been a while since I read it. I doubt it will be the last book about Master Armstrong anyway...

Not completely correct in your memory, but I don't believe that at all. YMMV, obviously.

LA's physiological traits were known before late July 2001. GL only surmised at that time LA should not be winning tours because of that. What a coincidence.

You are absolutely incorrect. David Walsh found out in the spring of 2001 about Ferrari. Lemond was asked about Ferrari and Lance later that same year. It was in the context of Ferrari that Lemond first started doubting Lance.

What are you talking about?

My point is about GL in 2001 telling LA on the phone he should't win tours because of his physiological traits, or lack of. I made that clear in my reply.

You guys banter on about Ferrari and when GL found out. I don't buy it anyway so don't waste your time.

Its a point now, ok - can you back up this point or will you do the usual "I am not playing your game..." speech so as not provide any links to what you suggest?

Actually yes, "I am not playing your game" because you know what I wrote to be true. Keep up your game for the koolaid drinkers in here, doc.

You might be thinking of a missed test in the US when LAs friend College drove out of LAs house to fool the testers in to thinking he was leaving his home.

GL. "Hi Lance, it's Greg."
LA. "Greg, what's up?"
GL. "Not much. Just wanted to call you to accuse you of doping."
LA. "Far out, man. Lemme have it!"
GL. "You lack the physiological traits to win the Tour."
LA. "I do? . . . (Pause) . . . But I've won the Tour. Several times."
GL. "I mean you shouldn't have won the Tour because you need to dope to win."
LA. "How'd ya come up with that one, Greg? You get a medical degree, or even graduate college?"
GL. "Nah, some dudes told me some stuff and I believed it. I did win the Tour three times, though, and I AM physiologically endowed."
LA. "Yeah, Greg, you sure are endowed. But would you please apologize to me for calling me a doper."
GL. "Sure, Lance. John Burke asked me to formally apologize to you, anyway. I take back what I said. We cool now?"
LA. "Yeah. We're cool. I'm dominating you, and I like the feeling."
GL. "No probs, Lance. Real glad I made you feel good."
LA. "That sure was a fun conversation. Call me anytime! Bye Greg"
GL. "Bye Lance."

What you need to make clear is where exactly it was you read this nonsense.

Provide a link for this conversation, because as long as I've been following this saga, I've never heard anything like this.

Either you have proof that Lemond indeed made this statement to Armstrong or you are lying.

It didn't happen. Feel free to provide a transcript. It's available and that's not what was said.:)
