Dont think cocaïne boosts performances.
It does. Stimulants are popular PEDs.

Really? If you're referring to a little post-stage pick-me-up, I might understand what you're saying. But even then a rider would wake up half-depressed and missing sleep. I don't see how coke could be a ped, unless they're doing lines mid-race.

It seems any possible "pick me up" it could give a rider, would not be worth the hassle. I agree, I just don't see how it's a PED in the sense of how a PED would give an advantage. He just likes coke and fancied some. He's an idiot.

The test was taken after stage 4, the cobbles. Is it possible that accidentaly cocaine was spilled on the pave by careless dealers from the region and when the peloton passed, dust was raised containing traces of white powder just to be inhaled by an innocent Paolini?

 :) :D Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Can see the excuse being a joke but then so is the UCI so why wont they accept it. The cocaine was medical and the pharmacists pill counter contaminated.........................easy.

My cousins friends brothers uncle used cocaine a few times. For him it was up half an hour to an hour and down down down the rest of the way. Though continually sniffing the stuff, kept the down away. But the eventual landing was much harder.

If you plan sitting on your bike for 5 hours every day for 21 stages, those rest days would need to be more like weeks.

Cocaine is too short acting to be a meaningful ped. Of course Pinot might get a performance enhancing effect going downhill.... :p

Could it have been accidentally ingested? It probably depends on how sensitive the test is, and how large an amount and in which way the stuff was ingested.

Is it? Considering Wonderboy used a backdated TUE AFTER he tested positive? Oh wait, he could use the Contador" I ate some tainted meats, I swear" excuse too......

Funny, all my friend's brothers-in-law's cousins are saying cocaine is merely a recreational drug with no performance-enhancing effects.

Really odd, so it could have been OOC use which is allowed, but because the test is in-competition it counts as a doping offense?

in regards to being OOC, i believe it is out of your bloodstream and urine after three days. Meaning it must have been in competition unless done by hair strand testing or another format. But if blood or urine, it must have been in competition.
I think it can be detected 2 to 4 days afterwards, but this testing window is extended for frequent users. Anyway, he tested positive on Thursday, he could have been out partying on Friday?
It`s 3 days at most.

He tested positive for the metabolite which stays in the system for longer, how long is dependent on various factors, including previous usage.

You know I always had Luca down as a rolled 100 dollar bill kind of snorter, but if he uses a straw, what the heck!

party in winter, take cocaine

blood tranfusion in tdf with cocaine in blood from that winter.. oops, forgotten

Good call. Most likely...

Anyway, why do the testers waste their energy & money to test for coke? What fools are at work there?
If there is any guy with common sense at the anti doping agencies: The heck tell them idiots around you to use all the sources to go after real doping (like transfusions, Epo...).
Another case of people having reached their level of incompetence. Oh my...

The article on the main site has it but also this has some information http://buddymd.com/benzoylecgonine-cocaine-drug-elimination-time-and-clearance

(I have no idea whether that is a particular good site tbh)
I meant the link to the side wich mentions that he was tested positive for benzoylecgonine. Everywhere i found just "cocaine(benzoylmethylecgonine)."

basically 4-10 days but if he was really partying with alcohol and other stuff maybe a month. He always struck me as a bit of an odd character.
